Any decent ones to visit in the city centre?

I just watched the Galway Eyre square one on Nationwide and it looked good, better I thought than last years Docklands one.

Get on the DART and go to Dun Laoghaire...one of the best I've seen in this country!

The best Christmas market I've been to is Belfast. Brilliant atmosphere on a Saturday evening, and the setting is a fantastic.

In Dublin, none that are really better than the other.....Farmleigh isnt bad, Docklands isnt bad, there's one in Dun Laoighaire also.....

But none that really stands out as being unique or special. A lot of them would be markets that are on year round, and are also on at Christmas....as opposed to a Christmas market.

According to the very first entry that comes up when you google "Sligo Christmas Market"....
Local Traders wanted for Christmas Market

This year both Sligo Chamber and Sligo Borough Council are delighted to be able to bring to the heart of Sligo City Centre, The all-weather Christmas Market. Stalls will be available for traders at very reasonable rates to encourage traders to take part. Stephen Street car park will be transformed into a winter wonderland running from Saturday 8th December to Sunday 9th December.

A substantial marketing budget has been secured to promote this event and our target market will include County Sligo, Northern-Ireland and the surrounding counties, our aim is to attract visitor numbers in excess of 10,000 over the course of the weekend.

The Market will feature up to 40 stalls – all packed with possibilities. Choirs singing Christmas favourites will feature at different stages during the market, whilst kids of all ages can enjoy some slippery fun on the outdoor ice rink. Face painting, balloon making and lots of other fun activities are also included for kids throughout the weekend. We hope that you will all support this event and help us build on something for the future.”

Stall costs are €150 covered, €100 own stall/gazebo (€100 non-refundable deposit required to secure stall) If anyone is interested in having a stall or participating please contact:

Sile Garrett-Haran 087 6495086 (County Sligo Festival Committee)

Lorraine McDonnell 086 0574040 (County Sligo Festival Committee)

(Closing date for stall applications - 23-11-12)

    Happy?

This is the Dublin City forum, the hint is in the name. Start a thread in the appropriate forum rather than resurrecting one here please
