I just bought this one for someone interested in starting videoing around, it looks like a good deal for the specs (€115) and test videos in Youtube are quite decent for the price range: http://goo.gl/86d1a

This is the link to the video that convinced me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAhDleB38Z0

Edit: this camera uses SD cards, which is probably the easiest way to transfer the video to a PC.

i think whoever filmed that needs to take a look at the the new youtube editing tools that include a one click video stabiliser. :)

tbh, for the money i'd be expecting better video quality from that camcorder.

as a comparison, this is a video i filmed using a €30 720p keyring camera i got off ebay a few months back. excuse the music, it was youtube's idea. :o

the one you linked to is definitely better quality than my one and it does have an optical zoom, but i don't know if it's €80 better and you can literally stick the one i have on a keyring and carry it in your pocket as it's the same dimensions as a car alarm remote (and made to look like one for spying purposes). :)

there's a lot of info about them on this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055935996&page=51

btw, the wobbling on mine is from the vibrations of my jeep, it's like an old tractor and every camera i've used to film stuff in it does the same thing when it's idling. the vibrations just seem to go right through whatever i'm filming with.

as a possible alternative to think about, I got a Sanyo Xacti CA9 for my brother in law last year for his 40th birthday and he loves it. it's actually a great little camcorder and has the advantage of being waterproof, so you can happily film in the rain or take it in the pool or the sea if you have kids and want to get some video of them in the water, and i think that although the picture might not be the best in the world (even though it is still pretty good), it's versatility more than makes up for what it lacks in image quality and for €150 its hard to go wrong.
