    Hi all,

    I don't know much about graphic cards so apologies if this is a stupid question.

    Im getting a new gaming laptop and im stuck between two graphics cards;

    Dual 2 GB AMD Radeon HD 6990M (4GB total) or

    Single 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M

    Ive been told that dual gpus dont share their memory so is there actually any advantage to the dual cards over the single 2gb ?

    A single 580m is slightly better than a single 6990, dual 6990s would blow it out of the water.

    Dual 6990s would........ do anything right now. Hope you're on at least 3 monitor eyefinity to get the full use of it.

    dual 6990m is an impressive amount of GPU performance in a laptop. what laptop is it specifically? its battery life will be woeful while gaming, so why not consider a desktop instead? at that budget you'll be able to get a very powerful PC.

    Its dual 6990Ms btw, so roughly equivalent to a single 6950 or thereabouts.

    The layman should stay away from sandwhich cards and crossfire/sli. With them you are relying on drivers for new games being good. They usually aren't.

    Go with the best single card solution you can afford. It will save you alot of headaches.
