Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vintage Reproduction

I'm mad to get a vintage cocktail dress for a wedding I have coming up, but unfortunatley I don't have a vintage figure, so I'm struggling to find one that fits!

I have seen a few shops of etsy.com that to vintage reproductions from vintage patterns. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of getting a vintage reproduction piece made in terms of quality, service etc?

Many of the shops on etsy are US based, but even better if someone knows of someone in Ireland doing this.

    Thanks a mil!

    heya!

Retro in Georges Market stock "Stop Staring" dresses (check them out online) and they're vintage reproduction dresses. You could try them on for a fit first? they really are gorgeous. Best of luck!

Pattern manipulation, is a highly skilled process so I would recommend you going to a dressmaker to ensure quality of the materials and workmanship used. This lady Anne O'Mahoney has a bespoke/couture service in Dublin http://www.anneomahony.com/

A lot of the 'vintage' reproductions etc., are made only to standard blocks in polyester or poly/cotton mixes.

Thanks a mil for all the input folks. I have found someone in Ireland that is going to make a dress for me and I'm very happy with the service so far. I'll post back once it is all finished to let you know how I got on!

On the 'Stop Staring' dresses, I've looked at these before and found the quality to be disappointing compared to the price, the materials used just seemed cheap looking. I'll pop into Retro next time I'm passing and give them another go.
