Hey everyone, I'm a college student in my first year of a media and music technology course. The course is pretty broad, it's got elements of music production, film production, computer science and more. I need a laptop that would be good for that kind of media stuff, but unfortunately can't afford a decent mac. I've got just 800 euro so I could almost afford a macBook air but I'm sure that'd be the right option. I'm thinking maybe going for something in the Dell XPS range because a friend advised me they were good but really I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions of good Laptops within this price range?

I'm not sure what spec you'd need.....all of these are far better than the Macsh*te Air,

This is a decent all rounder, good brand.

i7 is usually recomended if doing alot of video encoding....one of them anyway, you know yourself.

Thanks a million. I'm not even really sure about the specs I'd need myself. I know it's have to be fairly powerful with a good bit of RAM and good sound and video cards. The problem is I've been computer shopping before so I don't know the ins and outs of what I really need. I'm about to find out I suppose.

Their's not alot the last two wouldn't do, I was trying to find one with an expresscard slot that you could stick a Soundcard in, but they're thin on the ground.

Their's USB soundcards out now....never used one though so not sure what they add....if anything.

Here's one with a built in soundcard but who knows when they'll have stock in.

You could start the Topic in a Thread over in C&T aswell to reach more people.

Maybe someone else will be able to fill you in on if they even add a noticeable difference at all.
