Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A few quick tips I found elsewhere a while back:

Avoid location services: These applications, that include things like maps and navigators, are battery hogs and should be turned off when not in use. To disable, go to Settings>General>Location Services.

No pushing: Or at least limit the number of applications that are allowed to push notifications or email to the iPhone. To turn off push mail applications like MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange or Yahoo go to Settings and select Mail>Contacts>Calendars>Fetch New Data>Push>Off.

Lock it up: Another easy way to prolong battery life is to lock your iPhone when not using the device. You will still be able to receive calls and texts but the phone will not function until it is unlocked again. To lock an iPhone press the Sleep/Wake button.

Fetch data selectively: Email and other programs can conveniently grab new data at specific intervals, but the process can significantly drain battery life. It is better to manually check for email and other data. From the Home screen select Settings>Mail>Contacts>Calendars>New Data and then choose Manually.

Turn off Bluetooth: Again, if you don’t use it get rid of it. Bluetooth can be turned off by going to Settings and choosing General>Bluetooth>Off.

Say N-O to the E-Q: Your iPhone’s equalizer will decrease battery life unless turned off. Turn the EQ off by going to Settings >iPod>EQ and touch Off. The EQ on the iPhone will have to be set to Flat if songs have had EQ added directly in iTunes. Go to Settings>iPod>EQ and select Flat.

This is not prolonging the battery life - but maybe get a RichardSolo 1800 battery backup?
Has enough power for a full charge and then a bit.
I have one and really like/need it.
