I was going to do this last year but other things got in the way.

Question regarding the mobo+HD.I would prefer 1Tb but probably 320 would be fine espescally with 6BG sata but I dont think the mobo has sata 3.

Also would that graphics card be better than say a nvidia gtx 460? and if so what would its equal be to nvidia.I only really fimilar with nvidia.

Hopefully I've remembered everything. I've sacrificed CPU overclocking in place of a better graphics card. My build will get you quite a bit more performance now, but daz's is more upgradable.

Edit: with regard to your questions above:

A 1TB hard drive will obliterate your build. They're about €150 at the moment, so it would eat a huge chunk. SATA3 also means feck-all in terms of speed for a mechanical drive, so don't think it's better because of it. It's just a marketing gimmick with mechanical drives. You'd need a good SSD to see the benefit.

A 6850 is about the same as a 460. A 6950 - in my build - performs between a 470 and a 480.

Double edit: Seeing Shadow's post, I mis-read the first one, seeing a 6850 instead of a 6870. Yeah, it's about the same as a 560.

-I think the 2500K is worth keeping here thinking of new cards around the corner. A 6870 is not to far from the 6950 and it can be upgraded later.
-The amazon series of PSU is better than the gamer edition series. 450W is enough for this build with overclocking, but upgrade if higher end cards are likely (e.g., the 550W as linked by Serephucus).
-tray CPU + cooler could be traded for a box which comes with a mediocre cooler, if you needed to save some money here. A good cooler and overclockable CPU means this platform will last a long time and you should only need to focus on graphics card upgrades.
-DVD burner is definitely recommended over a reader
-Picked a cheap case. Comes with screwless design and some nice features.

If the hard drive size is important, you could go with an SSD combination. One of the best SSDs to go with is the M4, but the 64GB version is €97.
You could go for a cheaper alternative such as the vertex plus 60GB which is €65. Not the best SSD, but faster than HDD. Pair this up with the 2TB green drive linked in the bargain alerts (€85). This will cost €150 in storage but you will have a fast OS drive and plenty of space. You'd need to either spend an extra €80 or we'll have to chop a lot of other features.

These builds look great. I can speed €700 max if that changes anything.

A question regarding the processor. I would use the intel core i5 2500. I know it's quad processor and is 3.3 ghz speed. But what if a game needs say 4ghz(unlikely I know) will it be able to handle it?

The 2500K is a ridiculously good overclocker. If you need more speed in the future, you can spend €25 on a good cooler, stick it on, and overclock to 4.5 or more in about ten minutes.

Edit: Ha! Never mind! Mono even squeezed in a decent cooler in that build, so you'll have it from the get-go.

This looks like the best build, id want a 320gb minimum hard drive, hard drives vary in price as this 1tb is only €99 and it's Sata 3

Wow, the speeds of that hard drive are excellent and it's a single platter drive (usually implies less heat and power). Access times are poor though. It would be very good for paired with a SSD. Hitachi has been owned by western digital for quite a while now and they have good quality drives (well, in my experience anyway).

I see the one you picked in 500 gb for €130 would it just be better to go with a wd cariar 500gb?

And is the artic cooler freeze extra fan needed?

Ah no, that's too expensive for a 500GB drive. Hard drive prices are all over the place with the shortage at the moment.

If you want to improve access times the best way to do it is with an SSD, which adds extra cost to your build. The cheapest one around is the Vertex plus. You could use it as a boot/windows drive or with an Z68 board as the one below, you could use it as cache. Files that you use a lot are automatically stored on the drive and are there for quick accessing. Installing windows directly onto it is usually the better option but the cache alternative can be useful if you don't want to be managing your space. The main disadvantage with the cache is that you don't see the benefit until you use your files a few times and if you regularly move between huge programs, you won't see much benefit at all.

The processor and graphics card work in tandem, some games rely on the processor more, other games (majority really) rely on the graphics card more.

Since the 2500k is one of the fastest chips you can buy, it's going to last you a long time in regards to gaming. You'll probably upgrade your graphics card maybe twice more before doing a full upgrade on the processor.

Good to go for the next couple of years.

Unless of course in the meanwhile you turn into a performance freak and upgrade addict, in which case you'll upgrade to the latest at any opportunity

Do you really need the Arctic Cooling CPU cooler? Yes if you want to overclock (you should) and it is much quieter than the Intel stock fan, and it keeps the CPU running nice and cool.

Is the 120GB drive an SSD? Almost definitely not.

EDIT: In response to last Q, When the file is being saved, you have to manually direct it to whatever drive you want it in, just like you would direct it to a certain folder.

If you weren't going to bother with the heatsink, you'd have to get the "box" edition as opposed to the tray edition. You could still overclock a bit but not as far or as quietly as with the AC Freezer.

Ok I just stick with the wd caviar 250gb hard drive should be plenty of space.cost getting a bit high.

With regards to your post above is this the processor we are taking about. Yes I will be getting the box edition.
Where does this fan go? Does it replace another? If I wasn't over clocking I don't need it?

You need "box" which has CPU + fan
OR
"tray" which is the bare CPU so you need a heatsink like the AC freezer.

Never install a processor without the heatsink.

The 1TB drive might be okay on it's own. The access times do seem high but it's a new product and not widely reviewed - It wouldn't be any slower than a laptop at accessing and it has fast raw sequential speed so it should be still a good drive.
