Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Haven't rang about it yet and probably won't because we still have capital
to write off but looks like tidy value from here.
cab looks diff to normal cab i think, also i thought 5455 was 100hp so this one must be less than 98

Its basically a Valtra A95 in MF Colours.

    98 hp engine

    £20,000 + Vat = €24,000 + 4800 = €28,800

Transport, Rereg + Clearing it could come to another €1000.

    That's close on €30k.

Its still a bog standard Valtra.
Beware of the clutch - it has a dry clutch which wears easily.
The cab is very tight and cramped. They must have been built for elfs. :D
Tiny rear window which is easily broken
They are very fussy on diesel - multiple problems with airlocking if your diesel isn't double filtered.
Tiny diesel tank - about 12 - 14 gallons - not enough to run the tractor for a full day's work.

Reliable other than that, but have a pi$$ poor resale value.

Better spec Valtra or MF Tractors would be a much better buy - these are pretty much bog standard.

Just my own experience of them.

I was thinking it was a lot like them with the gearsticks and where the shuttle was.

As already said its a basic valtra in MF colours. Intended as a cheaper lower spec option to the 54xx range.
The cab is very narrow and cramped , the clutch pedal is awkwardly angled and very heavy, it wouldn't be a great yoke to spend a lot of time in. Local JD dealer had 2nd hand one for ages couldnt move it on despite it being v clean and tidy with low hours

    Thanks for the replies

I was aware the 4*55 eventually became a Valtra but that
doesn't bother me as Valtra have a proven reliability record.

My nearest MF dealer has a 97? 4255 with ~3000hrs for 28K incl VAT
    which I thought was ridiculous.

The fact the 4455 in wales has only 500 hours was provoking my suspicion
    because it could be

bought by an older farmer who then reduced workload/retired/passed on
    (not worried)

    or

had a significant engine/backend problem and was returned to dealer
    (very worried)

    or
they just didn't like it in terms of comfort, layout etc
(not worried, one on demo would sort this out)

    .

Unfortunately that model of valtra has a proven unreliability record. I have a relitive with one. 800 hours hours saw a new clutch in it under warranty. 1200 hours saw a second clutch in it. He tried to trade it at the time of the second clutch and they offered him a pittance for it.
There are some great model's of valtra out there with a proven reliability, but this is not one. Its cheap for a reason!

Thats dear enough, for about 2K more you'll get a much more re-saleable and sought after 5455 of similar age although slightly higher hours.
