Just had a mail from the National Archives about this:

    http://www.csorp.nationalarchives.ie/index.html

It's records from the Chief Secretary's Office (first half of 19th century).

The interface is in the typical NA style (i.e. could be better) but it looks a fascinating database.

And all made possible by a bequest from a USian of Irish parentage. How cool.

Pinky did you get this email because you are on their general mailing list? I'm signed up but rarely get news.

No, it's one that Aideen Ireland sends out every now and then. To be honest, I'm not sure how I got on it.

    Thank you!!

I did a quick search and found a relative charged with murder - unusual name in the correct location.

The family grandees WILL be pleased :D:D:D

I must do some more research and find out if he was convicted. Its a fabulous resource.
