Quick question - I want to make smoked salmon pate but all the recipes call for loads of cream cheese or creme frais or similar. Can anyone suggest anything else as a 'filler' as I think smoked salmon on its own would be a bit sticky?

I use hardboiled eggs in smoked mackerel pate which works well, I could probably use the same but I am trying to get a bit of variety.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe try a relish, perhaps horseradish based?

If on the off chance the problem is not actually dairy but is lactose, you can buy lactose free cream cheese by a company called Lactofree. It is sometimes available in Tesco. It's very nice, actually.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have a clue how to help with this request!
