So how does it work for Santy? Does he head down there tomorrow saying that he is unemployed (until 1 night in a years time)? How does he claim since he is not really a job seeker in the traditional sense of the word, like he only works one night of the year?

Its a bank holiday so they are closed. Tell him to pop down the chimney and grab a ticket so he will be first in line when they reopen.

    Hope that helps.

ps: I dont think Lapland is in the EU so he might have to go to the first hatch.

Nah, he's on dockets since way back.

He reports that he's been working full-time for the month of December, and two days a week for the rest of the year. He cooked up a deal with them years ago, meaning he can put the year's worth of dockets in at once, and get paid into his bank account.

Mind your, he's now means tested 'cos Ms Claus is working, so he doesn't get much.

He is 'artistic' and therefore allowed to sign on all year in Galway...while expected to declare the odd day. Once he reaches 50 he will be co opted by Aosdána for his great artistry ( despite officially never working in his entire life) and permanently taken off the live register.
