Using Vodafone Australia in Ireland

Does anyone know if you can use a PAYG Vodafone Australia sim in Ireland? I'm trying to use one and it wont allow access to any of the Irish networks. One Vodafone AU rep said yes you can and enabled global roaming while the next said no prepay roaming isnt available here. Any ideas?
