Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

I don't know if I am posting in the correct forum so please move if necessary.

We are moving to Australia in March and considering shipping a brand new motocross bike in its crate.

Has anyone shipped a bike to Australia before and would you have any information which may be of help to us?

    Cost, duties etc?

Also, in relation to shipping used bike gear is there issues with contamination (we have heard people speak of this before, it's the first I've heard of it)?

Any help or info would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance! L :)

I think you will find it fairly expensive.

Why not just buy a bike there?

Well, a container is €2200.....in short, it's not worth it - buy a new one, or used one, there.

Anything that has been in contact with agricultural land, clay etc, will have to be sterilized and certified......again, not worth the bother.......

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

It might be worth it if they are moving to Australia. They can pack all there other stuff into the container too.

I can't see there being much savings in shipping a brand new bike to OZ v's just buying a brand new one there. Then there could be spares issues.

Bikes in Oz are almost twice as expensive as here. Depends on the cost of the bike I suppose.

Found this it appears it's not as bad as I thought for a BRAND NEW bike. You'd have to pay GST and get an import cert before putting it on the boat.
