Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

More the fool them. There's so many red flags going on you'd want your head examined to buy/swap anything for it.

I'm not having a personal go at you, I just think you're slightly deluded to think that the people offering these swaps will follow through on their offer when they actually realise the details. That is assuming that now you know about the car being clocked, you will be forthcoming with that information if someone asks you about it?!

Why have you not sorted the log book out in the year that you've owned it?

........... At the end of the day I had no idea of the history of the car, cars runing 100% can't fault it in anyway.. You's all need to get a life instead of on this form talking about other people's misfortunes. Miles may have been screwd ( not by me of course) but nearly every car around nowadays are clock.

If you had seen similar comments from "clowns" perhaps you wouldn't be after having the misfortune you mention. Can't really complain now that you are selling a car knowing it's been clocked :)

You're right J, we do all need to get a life.

You are driving around in a clocked car with no logbook. If you had read a thread like this back when you were buying, then you wouldn't be stuck with a car that has a very dodgy past.

Instead of lashing out at us, maybe you should just be honest with your ad, take the financial hit on this car, and maybe google a car before buying it next time.

    Welcome Jason

I was original owner of that car and I still have contact details for owner that bought the car from me in Kilcock.

When the car was sold on years later by him to guy in Donegal (See start of thread) 90k was shaved off blatantly.

I assume that this is the guy you purchased the car from....

At one point you even blanked reg plates on your ads when first ads were taken down.

You also changed mileage in two ads in space of 25 days from 180k to 171k.

(I have screenshots of all Donedeal ads for the last two years)

You even had the cheek to cut and paste my old ad description from BMW-Driver.

You didn't carry out remap or fit mirrors or tint windows

The car is well known on the site as of it's unique individual order colour from factory estoril blue and more importantly now because of it been blatantly clocked few times.

Nearly 10k views on this thread alone

You had no idea of history but yet was able to research my old car classified ad from BMW-Driver.net and cut paste details from it

I have kindly updated the original ad for you now

Will google throw up the thread for all sorts of ways the reg might be searched if its only written in the above two ways on the thread? ie

    01 D 888
    01-D-888
    01D888
    01 D888
    01D 888

Does quoting the 01D888 series have the same effect? Ands what about 01 d 888 ?

I kinda feel sorry for Jayson321 for getting stuck with that car. Maybe he went in with his eyes shut and lets face it, it is a nice looking motor. Heart over head moment.

What can be done with the car now? Re-clock it to near what people think should be on it? Crush it?

if the tamper dot is on , some module or key still has the correct mileage in it , get it hooked up to a DIS unit and reprogram the cluster to read the correct mileage, tamper dot goes out, everyones back on a legit playing field, it probably has about 220k on it now though

I'm sure with the correct mileage this car would still be worth a bit, even with 300k well serviced and looked after it wouldn't put off buyers, its a stunner of a car.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51 ✭✭DaForceCork

I see that all ads have been removed now Donedeal/Gumtree in the last few minutes

Its a shame as this car had fully stamped service history which is prob missing now and had a folder of paperwork receipts too. I bought it on its condition and mileage never bothered me (130k) when I first got it.

Like another member posted...get it read diagnostics etc and recode clock to proper mileage.

I'm amazed that none of the parties on here have reported it to the guards, especially Jayson325i .
If someone knows there is a robbery going on, you would report to the guards.
Here, there has been at least 1 deception, everybody knows the car has been clocked at least once.
The problem is if everybody assumes that someone else has reported it and nobody has, the guy will get away with it especially of he's doing it more than once also revenue might be worth a call.
Would have thought a phone call to the Star or the Daily Mail might be a shot as well.

Seller is based in NI. PSNI wont deal with this sort of thing but i have a feeling Trading Standards may be aware of this.

Hey Philip and co. Just came across this thread. I owned this car before Philip and it is such a shame to see it gone to the dogs - As was mentioned before if it was regularly serviced and maintained with a little tlc it should last a lifetime. There are always a few blackguards out there.

Tamper dot has nothing to do with mileage but with vin mismatch.
DIS can not get rid of that dot either. Dis can not encode used modules.

So basically if the clocks themselves were changed it would show?
