Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Which is worse on an Irish girl:

    Mercedes or Porsche?

Imagine both being shouted in a strong northside accent.

Personally I’ve never met anyone named Porsche, but I have known a couple of Portia’s and they weren’t ‘hookerish’ in any way. Quite the opposite in fact, both being from very well off, educated families in the UK. 🀷*♀️So I do think it’s a name used by the educated, monied class. Porsche however, maybe not?

I can only surmise that some skanger heard Portia and thought it was Porsche.

It's pronounced "AB-city" apparently. The only person to blame in this is the mother for picking such a ridiculous name. The poor child.

Could be genuinely clueless about the context.

Maybe they're fans of Game of Thrones and liked "Arya" but wanted it to be more masculine.

People are bloody crazy, especially when it comes to naming kids. I don't think anything surprises me about kids names anymore.

You know you're dealing with an unhinged nutter when their pets have better names than their kids.

Couple near by me, two kids "Delyla-Rae" (spelt right the first name's lovely!) and "Maximillion Reign".

    The dog is called Benny.

Kid on the Toy show last night called Kyllian. Why do that to your child? ''Actually, it's spelled...'' is something he'll have to literally say for the rest of his life.

There’s a particular type of parent that loves to give their children normal names spelled in a “special” way. It speaks volumes about their ambition for, and faith in their child if they think they need to do that to make them stand out in life.
