Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    ...well, kind of.

Way Back When, I studied Motorcycle Engineering in Bristol.

A fellow classmate of mine at the time, a fellow Irishman, was a guy called Mark Jannink, - and came from.........Leitrim. He was particularly gifted - both at theory and practical. I jest not when I say that, if I had half his brains, I'd be dangerous........:D

Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, he got to serve his OTJ experience with a local firm - the well-known MRD Metisse, builders and purveyors of all things fine in the frame and chassis world. He started out doing odds'n'sods, but quickly showed his prowess at all manner of things, to such an extent that when his 3 months were up, the owner didn't want him to leave.........and so he stayed. He ended up being the only person, outside the owener, who was allowed to bend and braze up frames from scratch..............

Metisse changed hands years later, after I'd left the UK, and moved to Oxford iirc, and sometime after that Mark went off the radar. I never did find out where to.

Until recently - he is still making motorcycles, under his own moniker Mojo Motorbikes, and I found his website this evening again: http://www.mojomotorbikes.co.uk/home.html

So, if you've got nothing better to do, you could do worse than look under the 'products' page and have a look at the craftsmanship. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

I had the privelege of riding his own one-off TDM850 special bike a few years ago, and it was a revelation.

Not bad for a lad from Leitrim, eh ?

Regards, and A Happy New Year to all

    John

P.S. If anyone knows his family location in Leitrim, I'd appreciate a contact no or something....(his father is a car mechanic iirc...)

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
