If you lost a €100 note, would you expect the bank to replace it?

Sorry for being so blunt, but vouchers are effectively cash and can be used by anyone - if its an electronic card voucher, they could cancel it, but if its paper voucher it can be used by anyone.

One option is to give them your credit / debit card details and say that if the voucher ever does turn up, they may debit the card - put this in writing and it MAY help.

Legally the store does not have to do anything whatsoever.

Dragging their heels??? You lost the voucher, not them. Sure you could have it tucked away in your wallet and be trying to scam them for a second voucher for all they know. Why would they be obliged to replace something you lost???

it was a printed recipt voucher with a serial number on it, she provided the time 17.30 and date it was bought, surely checking a computerised till records is easy enough no adays, cheers

They don't have to do anything. Unfortunately, you lost the voucher and that is where their responsibility ends. As a previous poster said, you *could* be trying to scam them for a second voucher.

TBH, a lot depends on how computerised their gift voucher system is, and if they can cancel the original or not.

Finding the transaction doesn't really proove anything significant. It prooves that one was bought, not that it was subsequently lost. Fair enough you didn't hold a gun to their head to replace it, but I don't think they should have. It is stated on all of them that they should be treated as cash and will not be replaced. This is a company that was in administration not that long ago after all.

    Exceptionally unnecessary post.

if they can cancel the other, then they stand to gain a lot by goodwill
