    Just squeezed myself in.

I have been keeping an eye on the table since the start of the year and I think its definitely helped in keeping me getting out the door.

    Thanks

Ohh, just seen that someone has now done 1000 of those NOT MILES foreign French things. How close with the prediction calculator be with it's current guess of 12th March for the 1000 miles proper?

I'd just like to say that I've had absolutely none of these problems, and my experience overall has been really good. However, I would like to request that prog rock fans be excluded. I submit that Close to the Edge is one such, and wish him (they're always 'him') shunned. SHUNNED, I say.

I'm listening Daveanon, I've just added on todays run and will try to keep as far away from you in the table as I can.:)

Would it be an idea to add in which county each one of us is from?

Might add a bit of rivalry and help everyone get out the door a bit more?

This is great, the motivation to go out running is a big plus for me.
I'm just back from Munich where I ran 3 evenings, the first was at about -12 and snowing, I had icicles on my eyebrows and eye lashes when I got back to the hotel. The second was around -8 after a bit of a thaw and the last one was a very slippy and slushy run so I stayed on the footpaths. (not the well gritted / cleared cyclelanes!! ;))
There is no way I would have gone out if it wasn't for the "challenge"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,062 ✭✭✭davedanon

That was an attempt at humour, Close, reading it again it looks a bit heavy-handed; par for the course on another board I post on, but we all know each other pretty well over there. I shouldn't be assuming I can be so robust here. Hope you weren't taking any offence.

Ok, I mysteriously disappeared off the sheet - but I won't take that personally :p.
Now I'm back on the sheet and back running and have rocketed up to 79th place - watch yizzer's backs beepbeep rides again ;)

Is there a reason I would have been deleted off the list or was somebody just clumsy and deleted me.. Now to try and figure out what Mileage I was on..

If you know when you last updated, you can view the revision history and see what your mileage was then. DON'T REVERT TO THAT VERSION, just view it to find your mileage.
It's a good idea to keep a copy of your total somewhere else, just for a backup...

    No offence Dave.

just happens that I extracted this from the guardian today
Adharanand Finn spent a year in Kenya training with elite runners. His book, Running with the Kenyans, is published by Faber & Faber on 5 April.
"The best thing that we can learn from Kenyans about preventing injuries is not to be afraid to skip a training session if you're tired. Their mantra is 'listen to your body'. Pushing things when you are over-tired is a common reason for injuries. One of the top coaches in Kenya told me that because it can be hard to get decent treatment for injuries they are more careful not to overdo things. 'We ride close to the edge here:),' he says, 'but, when we get too close, we have to pull back.'
"It helps that Kenyans don't count up their weekly mileage, which means they're less inclined to feel bad about missing a session. Of course all of this could be easily misinterpreted by those inclined to feel lazy before a run. The reason Kenyans can take such a relaxed approached and still be successful (I'm generalising here, but it is widely true) is because they are so highly motivated to succeed that they wouldn't skip a session unless they felt it was really necessary."

Explains my christening and interestingly its like the antithesis of what we are up to here. Still looks like it might be a good read when it comes out.

Did the edits happen to stop over the weekend for a few hours? I'm thinking that the vandal may have been busy in a forest at some point on Saturday morning and wasn't able to keep up with their changes.

Just my spidey senses are tingling.

I had a sex-change and lost a few years (M40 -> W35) and became more comfortable with my new younger female body (Kushty_Clown). But enough about me. Who's playing around with the list? ;)

ultrapricey, raverhogan, slugger juggler... whoever it is should be using their creative writing skills somewhere else

OK, I'll leave it a gerard69 if whoever you are insists. considering the 65 refers to the year of my birth, I wish I could drop four years:).
the name changing was mildly amusing first time, but come on, the joke is dead.

My calculations for Miles per week 1000 miles estimate date Year total estimate are all slightly out. Basically I was calculating the number of days from today from the first of Jan. It is one day out. I have fixed them in Copy of Postions if you want to move them over. Also I have fixed the running streak sheet so days now work out correctly.

Thanks for that. I'll fix that on the positions sheet tomorrow.

looks like it. I didn't revert the spreadsheet but I was able to fill in three names from a previous version. Don't know who the fourth was though...

Have to agree, gone beyond a joke...just mildly irritating now.

I knew this kindof thing would happen. So maybe next year a document can be created that has a sheet per each user where only the one person who has access to that sheet. Then all those details are imported into the main sheet. Its not that hard but its more secure. It more setup but no one can mess up the positions sheet only their own.

Are you volunteering to create 180 feeder docs? :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,612 ✭✭✭gerard65

The running streak doc is now been messed with. Can we revert back to the tables? at least it will stop the retard who's doing the messing.

Right, I've figured out how to combine the data from multiple sheets and keep the sorting working. Anyone with a google account that wants access to the locked sheet to protect our edits let me know your google name and I'll add you.

what are the new sheets doing ?

"Locked" is signed in edits only, and "CombinedSheets" is merging "Enter Distance Here" with "Locked" so that the "Positions" sheet then does the ordering.

You'll probably tell me it can be simplified a bit more now. :D

No but if people post their doc ID you use use a google doc template. then the only page that is editable is username and google doc ID. you add it to the sheet and delete it from the editable sheet. I does mean that everyone needs a google account but fullproof. People will complain but the current way is too open.

    Have I got this right?
The 'Enter distance here' and 'Locked' sheets do the same thing - you enter your distance and it is fed through to the 'Positions' sheet
The only difference is you have to be signed in to edit the 'Locked' sheet.
You can continue to use the 'Enter distance here' sheet if you like, but since ****wit isn't signed in, he could mess with your entry there.

The world would be so much simpler if we didn't have to account for idiots

Agree with you Gerard. It people want to take the piss with it they can.

I am finished with the doc till a new system is sorted.

I am finished with the doc till a new system is sorted.

If you have (or open) a gmail account, pm robinph with your details.
He'll give you access to the Locked sheet.
The only people who can edit that sheet are people who have been given access by robinph, and the name of the person making the edit is recorded.

Had a week off doing any miles now myself due to drinking duties taking priority. Have to get stuck back into it again now.

Have to try and catch Woddle.
