Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Final Grade of BEd degree/Postgraduate Diploma-how much does it affect job prospects?

I'm just wondering, how much importance do principals attach to the final grade (ie. 1.1, 2.2 etc.) you recieve in your postgraduate diploma or BEd degree??

Am I right in assuming its the main factor? and that a very high grade will at least increase your likelihood of being called to interview?

Not the main factor at all, principals are more interested in references and in other interests.A high grade in your B.ed does not always mean the person in an excellent teacher.

I'm guessing it would go against you though, would it?

principals are more interested in references and in other interests.

Thanks for that. On a side-note do people have any ideas about particular interests that would make me a teacher appealing to a school??

Maybe a GAA coaching course so you could coach a school team or a course on creating/maintaining a website to help out with the school website?

first aid course, ICT course especially those to do with social media like blogs, Interactive whiteboard course, musical instruments, basketball/hurling/camogie/football/dance/gymnastics would all be a plus.

Same question as the OP really, except regarding teaching practice grades? Overall my TP grades have been good (fingers crossed for Home TP due out the end of the month) but had one bad experience in a local school. Would a principal ask about specific grades in an interview?
