Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

optical to coaxial

I'm looking for a litte help please. I've been lucky enough to be given a phillips soundbar, which has a coaxial connection. My tv however only has a digital optical audio output.

My plan is to have all sound played on the tv (media player, sky) to be able to play it through the soundbar. I believe that if I buy a coaxial cable, optical audio cable and optical to coaxial convertor that this will work.

So, if this will work - where's the best/cheapest place to buy the cables and convertor? (online is fine, doesn't need to be a bricks and mortar). And will the sound quality be good when using the convertor? Does it degrade the sound at all?

    Thanks for any advice.

You can buy a powered optical to coaxail converters on ebay for less than 20 euro. Just make sure you don't buy a coaxail to optical converter.

Harvey Norman sell Belkin optical cables for about 13 euros, you can get coax cables for 5 euros from xmusic.ie in the Red Cow retail centre....

Note that the Alva Optical Cable on the xmusic.ie website is not suitable for consumer kit.
