Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have only really been lurking in here during the year as my camera is invariably pointed at my kids - and let's face it - who wants to see other people's kids? :p

Anyhow, a personal fav from the Summer:

This is mine. Its probably quite a boring shot, not even following the rule of thirds but I love the light and feel of it.

    Not boring,
The rule of sixths is just as good in this instance :D
Loving the light and feel of it too..
    Well done.

Took 6 years for the Tall Ships to come around. Also did a bit of work with the hot air ballon crews and flew over Waterford City on Friday evening (1 of a few that weekend). The wind was supposed to take us away from the bridge but luck shone down and it brought us right over the city and along the bridge. Got this shot which is one of my favourites. Also have another one but it's a Premier League shot which is a no no for posting online.

got cheap flights to paris in august ,just got back to the hotel and the wife commented that there was lightning outside took a quick look on the balcony of the room in the hotel brighton which had a good view of the tower and there were flashes every 30 - 40 seconds and it was getting closer, had no tripod so i grapped the side table from beside the bed, took the drawer out, flipped it upside down put it on top then put the waste paper bin upside down on top of that to get a clear and steady view over the bars.
Got about 3 or 4 shots with lightning in them, had shutter open for about 25-30 seconds a shot with noise reduction on, everytime the camera was performing noise reduction and there was lightning the words 'aaaahhh s**t !!' could be heard over the thunder..... ;)
nothing major done to the image, just basic white balance, curves and slightly cropped.

while trying some macro on incest I glanced up and grabed this one.
Some times unplaned shots are the best.

My camera didn't see much action in 2011, so thank goodness my choice is limited :pac:

Think this is my favourite. Terrible weather for a trip to Milford Sound, NZ but it's an incredibly atmospheric place.

This year i managed to pop over to Liverpool and meet up with a couple of friends that i had lived with in my first year while at Uni. During the second year some of them had dropped out/transferred to Manchester or went back to living at home.
So this was the first time we were altogether in the last 8 years. It’s funny sometimes when you meet people in your life no matter how long you are apart you can instantly go back to where you left off. No awkward silence nothing, just like you hadn't seen each other for a weekend.
These are great memories and in turn my favorite photos of the year.

7 up On Ice at Kilmainham. The amusement ride that had the two arms was about 100ft up in the air
