10.2c, very very windy and very very wet as it has been for the last zillion days...sick of having to go and look for my outside sensors every morning as they have been blown out of range on the base stations...

Message to self; get longer screws...

I'm new to this but hope to become regular as Mrs. crosstownk got me a weather station for Christmas. Unfortunately, my anemometer is fairly sheltered for now until I find a better location for it so my wind speeds are considerably lower than what's actually out there. My back garden is well sheltered so while the windspeed reflects what's actually happening in my back garden, I'd like to hoist it up a few more metres but it is what it is for now.

I'm posting here for now to ascertain the accuracy of my station when compared to others.

So here's my first 'report'. Any advice/comments greatly appreciated.

    Location: South Dublin
    Temp 9.8ºC / Wind Chill 5.6ºC / DP 7.6ºC
    Humidity 86%
    Pressure 1001.5 falling
    Gust 22 km/h (at 3.5m)
    Rainfall 0.3mm (1hr); 2.4mm (24hr).

Hi crosstownk have a look here http://www.irelandsweather.com/ there are other weather stations in the Dublin area that will give you some idea of the accuracy of your site.

That's a problem a lot of us here seem to have!

I expect my own anemometer to advect about 7m over the next few days :)

(Boards.ie must be doing wonders for sales of automatic weather stations in Ireland)

I have my anemometer on a redundant satellite bracket on the chimney of my bungalow as high as I can go but still missing out. A station a couple of km (wicklowweather.com) from me recorded a gust of 89km/h this evening - my highest gust today is 32.3km/h, all be it I'm tucked into the lee of the Wicklow uplands and its more exposed to the westerly winds
