In Dublin 5 you need about 100 Euro worth of Aerial or more, a mast head preamp and big pole.

On Irish coast you can only pick up main Transmitters from Wales. All Welsh transmitters are digital, analogue is gone there.

It's much safer and easier where you live to use Freesat.

Yup. I know it's all digital. I have Freesat and Sky. My point is exactly which Welsh relay mast is receivable on the East coast near Dublin 5 so that I can direct my aerial towards it. I need the exact position and/or coordinates. Thanks

If you click on a transmitter you can zoom out and check coverage for Dublin, by clicking on the Presely transmitter you will see coverage for your place in Wexford.

    Hope this explains,

A true 'relay' station is one which rebroadcasts a main transmitter's signal to fill in gaps in coverage.

The only non-main Welsh site of interest in Ireland is Arfon which is part of the Llanddona transmitter group.

Tony I am not in the TV and Aerial Industry. I am only a member of the public who visits these threads for info,

But you have not answered my question or even come close to doing so . There are some valid questions and observations made here about the ISAA but when I mention the shortcomings of the other two organisations the response seems to be "thats a matter for them" . members of the guild and the cai are quite free to come on here and recommend their own organisation, no one is stopping them from doing so and I really cannot understand why you have a problem with guys recommending the ISAA . If you feel that strongly about it then you should tell everyone about the guild and the cai at every opportunity.

Lets have some balance here instead of the one sided criticism.

Many thanks for that Peter. I will check it out in the morning.

Thanks to Peter and Friendo. Have checked that out via UKFree.tv. Very interesting and yes, it does appear that you will need a high position or mast to receive signal. At least now I know where the signal is most likely to come from. Interesting to note some signal strength from the Divis mast is available if you live on the Dublin mountains. Next item on the agenda is to start experimenting with aerials and my IDTV. Thanks again chaps

I wouldn't pay much attention to ukfree; local knowledge or personal experience is your best bet in these matters (& this is all a bit off-topic).

Tommy if you think that is bad you should try and work down here in Wexford. 12 years ago when I moved back here to work there was about 8 or 9 of us installers/riggers advertising Aerials and Dishes. we all kinda new each other trough the wholesalers and so on some of us even passed on work to each other especially around the Xmas time. Now a days the county is over run with so called SKY digital and Satellite Engineers. The Business has been destroyed since 2008 when Wales switched over to digital.

Regarding Saorview and their logo. Its seems quite clear that RTE don't give two hoots about who is abusing the saorview logo. They are not stupid they know its going on and are not doing a thing to stop it.

Listed on the Saorview site of registered retailers here in Wexford is a Hardware shop and a Sky Sales outlet.

Scaller, I think you need to make yourselves more visible. My next door neighbour's (shared chimney) aerial was damaged in a storm in November but neither of the installers we knew of were interested in doing the job, nor could they recommend anyone else. I'm sure you probably know who they would be (Courtown area). The result was, we were left with the aerial swinging around on it's pole for six weeks until the week before last, when Mother Nature finally finished what she'd started.

bmaxi that is bad going on from those guys. I probably know who you are on about in that area. But not even recommending to you another installer. That is not Good..:confused:
If anything like that happens again just drop me a PM and I will give a few phone numbers of guys that would have no problem replacing an Aerial.

hi just reading your thread re guild master craftsman i got a chap to do a simple job recently re satellite , repalcing one box with another , search "cowboy" SATELLITE for thread , I am in the middle of complaint to master guild , I was hopeful that it might be able to sort out the problem..but reading a bit here about the Guild I am losing a bit of faith in them! Does anyoine know of any member of the public who has had a successful outcome to a complaint over very shoddy workmanship?

    Thank You
