Sorry for bumping this but i am writing on this subject at the moment and would like to ask if anyone could give a reason why they have a favourite serial killer or why you find them a interesting subject ?

I would blame the media glorification of these creatures. Add in a dollop of angst, a feeling of emasculation, social phobia and misanthrophy/apathy, and you have someone who looks up to serial killers. The more famous/successful sociopaths also usually possess a higher level of charisma to aid their manipulation of people, and a higher level of intelligence. That is not to suggest that all sociopaths possess this, as most are knuckle-draggers and low-level criminals.

Personally, I recognise them as being emotionally retarded, anti-social deviants, with a confusion between sexual excitement and sadism. There is nothing glamorous about what they do, they torture and kill people for their own pleasure - without any regard for the victim as a human being. As such they are on a par with rapists and child molesters - and should be considered as such.

That would be my two cents.
