Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have amended the table as the current streak was same as the days tab. I thought by putting this in we can track whether the consistency is actually paying dividend to peoples training by monitoring PBs

Rather than just have it a complete tables thread put in when you race and whether or not you were aiming for PBs this will just be a way of making sure that the challenge is actually helping to benefit your running and not just running for the sake of the challenge

The table is active, just double-click on the Days heading

Good idea. My streak lasted all of 4 minutes before someone quoted an old table and deleted my existence. My streak unfortunately ended for real when I got sick.

Just had to end my streak:mad:
I have a bit of a niggle in the knee which I am getting seen tomorrow so while it's probably nothing I'll err on the side of caution and take today off. It was actually a 15 day (160ish mile) streak but I can't count the 6 days before New years day :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,759 ✭✭✭belcarra

I have just seen this now so have signed up for it with a streak of 8 days.

Would it make sense to add a couple of columns to the 1,000 mile spreadsheet in columns I & J for current streak and max 2012 streak, etc. and have a third tab for 'streak' beside 'position' or would this make the 1,000 mile spreadsheet a bit too complex?

The only reason I ask is that I seem to spend more time filling out various forms (between these and Jantastic) than I do running!! I'm too much of a numbers nerd not to join in though!!:p

Just joined myself, I think I did a 12 or 13 day streak in Nov/Dec, so aim is to beat that first.

Good point. I've copied the running streak sheet into the 1000 mile challenge spreadsheet as a third sheet.

My mini-streak finished after 18 days on account of a little niggle. Felt great this evening for having not run to be honest.

Not easy getting out this evening in that weather. But aiming for the end of the month so that was motivation to run in the wind and rain.

    Nearly there:D

Nice to have a race at the end of the month to have a kinda milestone since the start of the streak. The new year has helped get the consistency back with myself so will be interesting to see how this race stacks up as I have been delighted with how training has gone this month. The higher mileage before christmas followed by the few down weeks after the half seems to have naturally progressed my fitness big time as my easy pace has naturally progressed by nearly half a minute per mile over the last while.

Have had a few minor niggles but this is more of a result of introduction of more speed based work (1500m pace and quicker) and has been confirmed by where I am getting the niggles though the weekly rub is keeping me on my feet

Damn.. 26 day streak, ruined by a dodgy treadmill. It kept resetting on me every 100m, so it took me about 8 minutes (and a huge amount of frustration) to cover a kilometer. If I'd remembered the running streak, I would have kept going to cover a mile (probably would have taken me half an hour to do it though). Oh well.. Until next time...

Too late, I'm home now, and only covered 1km yesterday (unless you include running up and down the corridors of various eastern European airports?!)

Whats the old saying "When a butterfly flaps its wings in one part of the world it can cause a hurricane in another part of the world."

I am blaming krusty so for the end of my streak last night:D

Just a day where nothing went right and only time I could get out to run was 12.30 at night which normally wouldnt bother me but with race this week it would have been a mistake to try force it.

Incidently most of my athletes that I coach normally preceed a race with day off 2 days before and a recovery jog day before so I guess time to do what I preach coming up to this race;)

Last year I was running 5 or 6 days a week, but I was thinking of trying out 7 days to see what it was like. So this thread has kept me motivated to keep heading out the door each evening. So far, a 31-day streak and two PBs:

    29/01/2012 Raheny 5 Mile: 28:30 (prev 30:52 from June 2011)
    31/01/2012 Club 3K: 10:08

The 3K was a time trial on the track tonight, and my first time running this distance.

The biggest advantage I find with the streak is that it is encouraging me to run where previously I would have taken a night off. I've found that aches and pains are clearing up a lot quicker thanks to easy recovery runs that I might have skipped before. This has helped to get more out of my other sessions during the week.

    Roll on Feb!

Thats me out after 57 days. The sore throut over the weekend has developed into 'man-flu' so I'm not dragging myself out this evening just to keep it going. A early night for me instead. Not sure who's still going as the sheet is messed up.

Me too. I thought I'd take a couple of days off after Donadea, but the legs have felt too good to rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭GoHardOrGoHome

That's me out after 50 days!

I've messed around a bit with the spreadsheet. There's a start date and a finish date. When a streak is over you can highlight it in red to show it's dead (also the fact the end date is populated would give that away).

I would suggest that people could have two rows in it. One for their current streak and the other for their previous best?

    Thoughts?

(might write a snippet of code to populate the number of days based on the start date and if the end date is populated or blank).
