Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was wondering if you could help me with a little expert knowledge.

I recently bought a Denon D-M38DAB with Wharfdale 9.1 diamonds.

I see there is a subwoofer match for the 9.1 speakers and a sub output on my hifi.

I like low bass but not overly loud music as I live in a terrace house.

Does the music sound deeper with the sub or is it primarily for techno heads who like to blow the house down.

I love down tempo, ambient music and was hoping an active sub would benifit the sound.

    Would the sw 150
be the right choice for me in a medium sized bedroom

sub is really for home cinema sound effects, if you are happy with the level of bass from you present setup the no need for sub, sub with music can be woolly and overpowering sometimes, your house would sound like one of those cars coming down the road where you hear the sound system first... boom, boom

yeah. thats what the missis is afraid of. Bass coming down the stairs into the living room.

Still. I love the feel of it.

Has anyone ever considered a tactile transducer

would be put under the bed. I would love to see what they are like

I have the Wharfdale SW150 in my living room, and it is a beast, I reckon it would be too big for a bedroom however.
Most people make the mistake of turning up the volume on the sub too much so the sub becomes overpowering. You need to be able to hear the sub at a comfortable level, but you should not be able to ascertain where the sound is coming from.
BTW, I got the SW150 from Superfi - they'e put the price up, as it was selling at £150 for a very long time. Ignore the 'you save £80' tag.
As always, have a chat to the Richersounds guys here on Boards, I got a lovely Monitor Audio Vector sub from them for my bedroom set up (7.1) and it's a powerful beast too, but a bit smaller than the SW150. (and I got it for a lot less than that price shown too!)
