South Wall at night

Took a ramble along the south wall tonight. Bit windy and wet, but was a nice night for a stroll with a torch...

i like #2 & #3. How did you get that motion effect with the clouds, just a coincidence from slow shutter speeds or something else?

Slow shutter speed is correct. Not so much a coincidence as a product of the slow shutter and wind powered speedy clouds.

Edit: Sorry I ment south wall, Ive heard of north wall.

the north wall is the one at the western end of bull island.
it was built to create bull island itself.

#1 doesn't really work, largely because it looks lopsided. not sure if i'd prefer these in b&w or colour...

Pedantically, the island was a happy result of engineering works to scour the Liffey entrance of the North and South Bull sandbanks. The North (Bull) wall was proposed by Captain William Blyth - of the Mutiny on the Bounty fame - and built to the designs of George Halpin who also designed the Bailey and the Skelligs lighthouses.

As a nature reserve it's an amazing place for birdlife photography. I'm still hunting a photo of a kingfisher reputed to be there behind the Royal club.

Lovely pictures, especially from the half moon. A great place for swimming too when its not quite as wild!

that's what i meant - the island was a deliberate result of building the wall. or so i read elsewhere.
