Rayman Origins has multiplayer and it is amazing
Assassins Creed also has multiplayer, though i havent tried it myself
Saints Row 3 though not sure it it doesnt count as a shooter
Portal 2 (not a shooter though it does look like one)

I might think of some more later

Just a heads up, as great a game Rayman Origins is, it's only local co-op, not online. :(

    Fable 2 and 3

    Dynasty Warriors 7

    Guitar Hero/RockBand

I think some of the Lego games have online co-op as well as local, you'll have to check for each game.

    WWE12.

There are XBLA games that are online but not shooters too like Castle Crashers and Streets of Rage etc.

Anything else I have is either 15's 18's etc or shooters.

If you are buying EA games like Fifa, be aware that they have an age restriction on who can play them online. So even if the game is 3+, EA's servers have an age limit of 16. As you mentioned that the account owner is 12, if his date of birth is correct on his Xbox account, then he won't be able to play Fifa online.

As mentioned above, Xbox Live Arcade has some great titles that have multiplayer on them aswell, and the Guitar Hero games are also great fun.
