Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ever written to someone famous and got a reply?
I mean a personal letter, as opposed to a generic reply letter.

    Yes.
I wrote a letter to Gerry Adams and got a personal reply.
I have written to other famous people over the years but just received generic replies, not personal ones.
The most recent letter I have written was to Michael O'Leary regarding his lecture at the EU Innovation Convention. I will be interested to see if he replies.

I wrote to Mary McAleese when I was in 3rd year of Primary school. She wrote me back a beautiful letter and sent me a signed picture and loads of information on past presidents.

My mother then put them in a "safe place" and they've been lost ever since:(

Wrote to Bono about 6 years ago for a present for my best friend who is a huge U2 fan. It took LOADS of letters and emails but got a personalised signed Bono photo. Granted he is a bigger fan of the Edge but Mr. Evans didnt reply back. Dont think Bono and the lads respond anymore to emails and letters though.

I wrote to David Humphreys while he was still playing for Ulster and Ireland. Got a signed photo back, with a hand-written message from him wishing me all the best. I still have it on my bedroom wall :o

I have never really written to anybody. Sometimes on Twitter. I've given an opinion on something or somebody to a friend and had that person reply and give their say. Has happened a few times. Only one I thought was particularly cool was Graham Nash from Crosby, Still, Nash and Young fame...

I guess he / she defended the show - or did he/she criticize you for starting the thread giving out about the Irish version of Dragons Den ?
And did they reply by boards p.m. ? if so, how do you know they were real ?

When i was about 15/16 i wrote a letter to Matt Busby at United (He'd long since retired) asking if he could get the autographs of the current team for me, enclosed my autograph book.

It came back a few weeks later, fully signed by the team.

The front page though read...."To Darren, All Good Wishes, Matt Busby"

Lost the fcuking thing when i moved house though, that's one of my great regrets in life, losing that :(:(:(:(:( (Not enough sad smileys could ever justify how i feel about the loss)
