    Apparently the SiS 656 does support Pentium D processors, however:
    • Sony's propietary BIOS may not be designed for them
    • The cooling system (heatsink, heatpipes, fans, etc.) may not be designed for the higher heat output of Pentium D's

    Unless you know this system was sold with these processors and you know the cooling was the same I wouldn't try sticking one in.

    Personally I wouldn't waste any money on such an old system, especially such a proprietary design with mostly non-standard parts. 1GB RAM is barely enough for Windows these days. SiS chipsets were never renowned for their performance, neither were Pentium 4/Ds.
