Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

farm-work (how to keep fields green)

    im new to farming..and was just wonder what kind of jobs do ye do to the land to keep it weed and rush free.and to have nice green paddocks for grazing..and should fields be topped? should drains be cleaned ever year?and what do ye do with the grass(muck) that comes out of the drain?and there are quiet a few rushes growing under the wire should these be cut and sprayed..and do ye use grass harrows and are they any good..there are alot of tree too. should these be cut down to low hedge rows or should they be left??picture would be nice too.

    Depends on your soil, time of year and what type of farming your doing. Last winter/spring with its harsh frosts and dry weather meant that most paddacks looked rather yellow and worn out. Once the weather improves though they quickly bounce back. I don't think the height of hedges(unless totally overgrown) has much to do with it so long as they are well maintained in terms of acting an an effective stock barrier and shelter belt. AFAIK 6 to 10 ft is the general recommendation for these purposes.
