EFLC - Ballad of Gay Tony freezing can't play

I got the xbox 360 version of episodes from liberty city and I just can't play the ballad of gay Tony.
It freezes every few minutes and I don't get a chance to finish a mission before it freezes.
I only managed to get past the first mission and then it froze.
Its a total disaster for me.
    Its just completely unplayable.
All my other games work fine with no freezes at all.
I recently finished Battlefield 3 and gears of war and most of the way through gears of war 2 without one single freeze.
I've tried clearing the cache, installing to the hard drive, 2 different hard drives, nothing works.
I've tried 2 copies of the game , one from GTA 4 complete edition and the current one is from episodes from liberty city and they're both affected the same way and are completely unplayable.
I really want to play the game it looks like fun.
Can anyone help me to get it to work?

That seems odd, especially if you've tried with two different copies of if and other games work fine.

Are you online? Could it be that you need to download a patch or update?

I have it connected to the broadband.
I have the latest update downloaded for it.
I'm not an xbox live gold member, I'm a free silver member.
I tried disconnecting my ethernet cable last night and it didn't freeze in the amount of time I was playing it then with the ethernet cable disconnected.
I'll try it again like that later for a longer period of time and see if its ok.

Actually No that didn't fix it.
It freezes after a few minutes everytime I play it still.
The game is unplayable for me.
    Everything else works perfectly.
I'm going to get a refund and forget about it.
I've tried everything to try to get it to play.
Its been nothing but a headache and a disaster for me.
I'm probably one of the only people not looking forward to GTA 5 because all the GTA 4 games
have been a buggy freezing mess and I fear that GTA 5 is going to be the same.

So you got one version of the game from The episodes and then one from the full collection and they both freeze in the same place?

    They freeze everywhere basically.
It freezes every few minutes and I have to turn off my 360.
I don't get the chance to finish the golfclub mission before it freezes.
It could freeze at any point while I'm playing it.
Its a disaster I'm sending it back for a refund.
    The game is bugged.
It looks to me like it won't play on older 360s.
    I got my 360 in 2006.
Everything else plays fine though anyway.

Have you got a mate who you could get them to try out the game on their console?
I would say it could be scratched but in my experience, if it is it usually doesnt install to the HDD.

I think I'll just send it back.
If I leave it too long it'll be too late to get my money back.
There are no scratches on the disc at all.
It was brand new, sealed and not a single scratch on the disc.
I don't have the patience for it anymore anyway.

I work for Xbox. Sounds like you either got corrupt data in your save file. Go in to your hardrive > Games > GTA > look for data with a symbol beside it.

    Delete, redownload your gamertag.

Try play the game without your hardrive plugged in. If it doesn't crash while it's plugged out then your hardrive may be bunched.

    Good luck, hope that helped.
