Murray off. Thought he was poor today.

I think you are being excessively kind to him. He was dreadful.

What kind of kick was that TOL?!

Why can't Mafi play like this more often, he's a real threat tonight. Good turnover from Barnes before that too.

O'Connell asking for ref to show a card there.I don't like to see that. Maybe players do it all the time, I just don't like it.

According to Nugent he'll "probably be starting" in the 6 Natoins :/

Thought scrum was the right call there. Clearlly was trying to take possession.

Mafi having a great game tonight (apart from that pass 2 mins ago!)
    So did POC.

Average performance as usual in the Pro12, but that bonus point could stand to us come the end of season standings.

Murray was poor, but TOL just isn't good enough to replace him. His GAA kick off a scrum in the Munster 22 was completely bizarre, what was he trying to do?

Hopefully Ronan will be ok next week.

Phatpiggins mentioned Johne Murphy as a disappointment in 2011 and I'm inclined to agree, bar a good linkup with Zebo he did little tonight and has done little all season really. Zebo was very good, he's get involved a lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,979 ✭✭✭✭phog

Delighted with the BP win, didn't loopk like it for a while. Very disappointed with giving them such an easy try from their lineout, we should have defended it better.

I thought Murray had a decent game, a few errors but made some good runs which created space.

Zebo did very well and took his try well, Mafi had one of his better games and Coughlan was up there for MTM with POC.

It was great to see Archer get a run towrds the end and he looked ok in the scrums that he was involved in.

Why did Owens red card the Treviso player at the end?

Mafi & Earls did well, POC was his usual excellent self...

Inclined to agree with posters here re. Johne Murphy, he's been a real disappointment since coming from Leicester TBH. When I heard he was coming to Munster I thought he could might be an outside bet for a position in the Irish 22 but he'll be lucky to hang on to his Munster spot when (if) Felix is fit again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭NikNak8

good bonus point when you consider the scalps Treviso have taken recently. great breaks from Murray and Mafi. Murphy was poor. Good to see players looking to offload in the tackle for a change. Varley's lineout throwing is still suspect at best! Surely there should be some kind of grind school for hookers to learn this skill!

Never mind when felix is fit, JM had a mare, I think he'll be doing well to hold on to it for next week. I'd prefer to see Barnes or O'Dea in there instead.
Zebo looks like he could be special! Fingers crossed that he matures as I heard he,s a loose cannon! Socks down why?

He was literally a stones throw from us a couple of times during the second half and he seemed to have this shiny type stuff on his lower legs. We were wondering what it was.

ONCE AGAIN, Murray was poor. I'm sorry but he is the most overhyped player in Irish rugby. I say this after nearly every game I see him in.

I havent seen one performance from him since the ML final where he hasnt been poor or just ok. I have seen a lot of performances from him where he has been diabolical. He was awful in the world cup in every game and is sooooo slow and makes errors all the time. Its depressing that he'll start for ireland.

He was man of the match against Llanelli, and deservedly so.

He has been poor in a lot of his displays though. He has a long way to go.

Last night he was rubbish. It was like watching O'Leary, except when O'Leary came on things got better.

Murray made a couple of mistakes last night, but I wouldn't say he was rubbish, dreadful or diabolical, I think that's overstating it. He was mostly alright, lively with the ball in hand, and good in defence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭NikNak8

Don't know what game you were watching, thought murray had a good game. What did he do wrong exactly? Some excellent breaks, good defence clean crisp passing. Band wagon bashers I'd say. Murray is a very good player already and still developing.

I think both of you are being over harsh on Murray, yeah he had a few hiccups but he ran well, because of his sniping runs kept the opposition honest, defended well and created a few gaps.

+1 Thought he was alright. Didn't set the world on fire but I don't believe the harsh criticism I've read here is warranted...

I suppose after years of watching O'Leary that must seem like a great performance!

He was desperately slow and was getting lost in play. His ball in hand play was decent though (although he butchered that one opportunity). Definitely wouldn't call that display "good." Can't think he'd be happy with it. He needs a lot of coaching.

Of course he wont be happy with his game but I doubt he'd call it rubbish either, he had a good game, impressive at times.

Murray mixed the very good with the very bad, I wouldnt say the bad stuff he did was indicative of him being a poor player, just that he still has a lot to learn, once he tightens up a few aspects of his game he'll be a top player

We've also had years watching Stringer so, your first point holds no water.

the Murry bashing is a load of crap . He is the best up and coming 9 in Ireland . he's the best kicker of any 9 in ireland very good pass soild in defence and has a great eye for a break . I would question his desision making at times but he is only 22

    Oh we'll see about that.

  • Murray is 22, chill the beans lads.

He's going to have a lot of nightmare games, it's part and parcel of being a pro sportsman.

Only said he was poor last night (after which I was corrected by Jaco, who said he was dreadful). Not talking about him as a player. I think he'll be a top class international 9 in the future, anyone who thinks I said otherwise is mad as a box of frogs.

You'd swear I said he was a rubbish player with absolutely no future and terrible hair.

Johne Murphy is undroppable for some reason. McGahan seems obsessed with having him on the pitch anywhere from 11 to 15. He started out well but seems to be comfortable in his averageness the past 18 months.

He has only scored one try this season and that was handed to him by James McKinney 5 yards from the try line.

He had one great run right at the start of the season, led to Barnes running in a try I think. I had high hopes for him after that, but he hasn't been great really.

Murphy hasn't been that bad but you feel theres an error waiting around every corner. With Zebo, LOD and Scanlon coming through you'd expect to see him relegated to being a squad player next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭profitius

    Just watched the game.

The pack were very good. Turned over alot of ball. Lineouts were poor. Hopefully they'll fix that for next week. POM was close to being MOTM again. Donnacha Ryan played well and POC was his normal self. Coughlan had a solid game too as did WDP.

Murray was fine I thought. Watch the butchered try again and he only saw POM a split second before the back closed down the space. He does take too long at the breakdown but thats where the Munster coaches should direct him. He also got the try that wasn't given I thought.

Murrays getting criticism but I thought ROG was more of a problem. Too many times when the ball was passed to him it ended up with possession for Treviso. Keatley should have been on earlier.

Mafi was good and bad. Earls was solid and is getting games at 13 now so we'll see how that turns out. Few players could have scored the try he scored.

The scrum went well. Archer was pushing the Treviso scrum backwards when he came on. He blows hot and cold in the scrums but with a bit more experience and cuteness he could turn into a handy prop.

Zebo played well although I thought his foot was in touch for the try, Murphy and Hurley didn't although they were not bad either.

All in all it was another typical Munster display. Pack good, backs average at best.

Yep, so much pointless and aimless kicking. Really poor from ROG.
