Did anyone else see a large meteor over Dun Laoghaire last night 04-jan at Approx 08:18?
The Whole sky lit up with a large whilte\light blue phosphorus meteor\object burning through the sky , tailed off with what appeared to be burning embers behind it ,
it was heading North towards Howth ,

Quatrantids meteor shower was on last night, so plenty of meteors.

    Dude,

It was HUGE, Saw it in Celbridge and first thought it was a large firework, but then figured trajectory was all wrong.

    So Cool.

Good to hear that some one else saw it , first thought was that it was a flare, but it was way to big to be a flare,,

They wouldn't generally list them as they are quite common. People just don't notice them much due to cloud and light pollution (in city areas) and another significant reason is that people just don't look upwards much at night. Any old cloudless summer night having a few drinks on the beach after the pub in somewhere like Donegal and you'll see plenty. So not much point in recording them.

Astronomy Ireland do sometimes ask people to email in reports but they never list them. The only thing they seem to do with these is add you to their spam list in my experience.
