Bizzarr- phone seems to have reset itself???

I left my phone on last night but when I woke up it was off. I turned it on and got a welcome to LG screen. It then proceeded to tell me that a new sim was inserted. It went into a setup for time, date etc, but strangey these were all correct as they are. Like usually if you reset your phone it would come up as 01/01/00 or…

I left my phone on last night but when I woke up it was off.

It then proceeded to tell me that a new sim was inserted.
It went into a setup for time, date etc, but strangey these were all correct as they are. Like usually if you reset your phone it would come up as 01/01/00 or whenever the phone was made.
I thought I had lost everything, but everything seems to be there except my sent & received messages.
No-one was at the phone and it didn't fall.
Anyone have any idea what could have happened???
