A little advice please

Hi guys

Just looking for a little help. I will point out now that I am clueless when it comes to pc.

If I bought THIS.

1. How well will it run Minecraft
2. Would I need to upgrade the graphics card.
3. If I need to upgrade the graphics card what should it be upgraded to.

Although would I be better off buying THIS and if so what upgrades should I go with it.

It will mainly be used to play and record minecraft.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Hey, is this computer just for running minecraft and the likes, nothing too heavy? If so you could get yourself a good computer for much less than that. And also, NEVER use custompc.ie, they're madly overpriced. here's a build that would run it perfectly. It's more or less the same price, but better performance and much more upgradeable. You could build it yourself (or some of us here would happily build it for you, its a hobby) or you could get it built there. I'd recommend building it yourself, there's guides out there and it gives a great feeling of accomplishment. Takes the guts of a day to build.
But yes, that computer could run minecraft, I don't think a good gpu is required.

A few things: Do you need peripherals? Have you got a copy of windows? If you're a student you can get it for €45 off software4students.ie.The build up there is just the actual desktop, so monitor and such is not included. Minecraft uses mostly CPU, very little of the GPU so if you want you could scale down the graphics card a good bit. There's an SSD in there which will boot up windows in seconds, but if you're storing lots of files you're going to have to substitute it out for something like this.

If you have a set budget, I could change a few things around to suit.

Thanks for the feed back. Just how difficult would it be to build it myself. Primarily just for Minecraft playing and recording. I hace a console for other games

As a monitor goes i do have one. No im not a student so ill have to pay the full price for windows.

If it was to be set up cheaper what would it involve.

If you want to build a PC you can build a PC. It's not hard if you do a bit a research.

Re console for other games: famous last words :-) There will always be something on the PC worth playing and games usually look better on the PC and FPS always plays better on the PC.:D

This is a very similar build, getting everything as cheap as possible, but still good quality. This sacrifices the very fast 64GB solid state drive for a slower (but bigger, and cheaper) 320GB hard drive. This build also includes Windows, but doesn't include speakers, keyboard, or any other peripherals.

This is the lowest possible without dropping too much. Piledriver and executioner CPUs are being released this year and then the year after so the CPU can be upgraded.

To be honest, I'm not sure how this stacks up to the other build, but it is a bit cheaper. The CPU is a quad core with a 3.6GHz clock so I'd imagine it'd be ok, although bulldozer kind of flopped against SB. That video card can't do anything more than watch HD movies, maybe source games. I don't think that really matters though.

To be honest, for the extra €80 or whatever it is, I'd go with the Intel build. Those APUs are only really any good if you're looking for an extremely low-power build, without a dedicated GPU, which is not what you're going for.

Op. if you can built IKEA style table, then you can build a pc. ( not my phrase, I just borrowing it )

There are tons of videos online on how to build pc step by step. When you will finnaly build one, you will get a ton of confidence and be able to build any system you want in the future. Plus you will understand how horrible and over priced prebuilt systems are!

I'd drop the former build to an i3 before going anyway near the FX-4100 (dual core/quad module) Bulldozer TBH.

Just had a look at a few gaming benchmarks, the bulldozers are really only good for number crunching and compiling. I thought they were better than that. As marco_polo said, The i3 would be the best bet and the cheapest option without sacrificing performance.

That has the HD3000 integrated graphics so should hold up ok on the minecraft front graphics wise. The i5 is 70 euro more, it has a higher clock and is a quad core if you wanted to stretch it.
All that is needed is a mouse and keyboard, the monitor speakers should do for minecraft, but if you want some actual speakers, get these if you're on a budget.
