Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sounds like you exist to me. Why else do you keep getting letters?

Sign the declaration that you have no TV and they leave you alone. Its very simple.
I got no letters "the resident" did and now they've stopped.

I'm amazed that so many people still pay the likes of UPC or SKY for their TV channels - it's a complete waste of money.

If you own a digital box & a satellite dish, you can still get most of the good channels on freeview.

And if you find you're missing some programs you like or some footie matches, just stream or download them.

Yeah I haven't watched telly for years. Its all on youtube or wherever these days.

footie matches, just stream or download them.

Streaming football matches is the biggest pain in the arse ever.

The game is about to start and you are desperately trying to find a link. Your usual trusty site has been shut down, so you end up logging onto iraqi-goals.net hoping the Americans will stop bombing them long enough for the game to finish, and every 5 mins this ad pops up, which you have to keep closing. And then at 35 minutes the stream dies because too many people are watching it in your country, so you have to go find another.

Versus, turning on the telly, going to the channel, opening beer and sitting back.

UPC was 35.99 a month when I had it. A bargain if you dont have to mess around with that.

Well the way things are going these days, we'll be lucky if they don't bring the old radio licence back in as well...

I've only very rarely had problems like that. The streams lately have been really good quality too as they're streamed from HD.

I sadly opened the door to the tv licence inspector. I wasn't expecting him as we hadn't received any letters. He asked for the previous resident and I said they didn't live here anymore and then he said who's the new resident. Well on the spot I couldn't lie so I told him it was me and paid the bloody tv licence. However, I got away with not paying it for about 5 years in my last place so I'm well up. Used to be able to descramble UPC for free too back in the day. Now I'm with Sky. Just money money money all the time.

p.s. i have a freeview dish for sale...20 euro, can be collected from drogheda

Your adding a device that can receive TV broadcast signals, technically you need a license for that device.

I'm just shocked people pay their TV licence tbh.

You might want to rethink this one OP. There is talk that the TV licence is going to be incorporated into the household charge, which you will have to pay, regardless of whether you have a TV or not.

sorry for the bump.just want to confirm this, a comp monitor is not subject to tv license fee? an adapter would be though?.and what is the process(timeline) if you dont reply to the application for the fee

A monitor in itself, no. However, if you connect a device that is capable of receiving a TV signal to said monitor, you are liaible. The "broadcasting charge" that Pet Rabbit has been Rabbitting on about is going to replace the TV Licence, and include such things as smart phones, laptops, iPads, etc as well as TVs. It's all talk at the moment though, and hasn't been implemented yet.
