It's not actually, the 2.3 was quite possibly the worst engine in the range (in terms of longetivity and reliability), T series engines didn't suffer from Head Gasket trouble, there is no such thing as a "Rover direct-injected 'T' Series diesels okay", it's an L series.

So it's not accurate at all really :)

What made you think it was by the way?

Both hj & parkers gave the same 2 stars, but the hj gave a way better and detailed review of that example

Do you not reckon that the fact the example you provided had a few untruths in it somehow does not make the review conducive to being "way better and detailed", well actually it may be more detailed but that doesn't change that it is incorrect.

You seem to think that because both Parkers and HJ both rated the Rover 600 as being a 2 star car as being justification for reckoning HonestJohn is a decent resource.

How is the HonestJohn speel better if it's wrong on many points?

The Rover k series is the one known for HG trouble, not the t series, the t series is not a diesel, that's the L series. The 2.3 engine was the most troublesome in the range, the specific review you picked and asked was it accurate was quite poor :)

Reckoning a petrol Picasso is a decent car based on an Honest John webpage is frighteningly naive.

Nice yoke, spotted it myself (on donedeal) just there
Saw the repeat of the top gear "alfa off", was looking for GTV's!

Facelift 156, not overly laden down with nct, but it's a 1.6, very clean looking, and cheap.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

No, as I was driving a 01 last week and I'm 100% sure it was 2.6, and I priced a trade in on one when I was in sales and it was 2.6 as well.

Looks like there was a newer version of the same engine from sometime in '99, so you're right about the 01 being 2.6! Older versions deffo have the 2.4 though, although wikipedia has never heard of the M112 E24 (2.4l) engine :D

Trivia: this engine was the first ever MB V6 engine...

The interior designers for Mercedes around that time should be shot.

I know it's been said to death, but why sell a car a month before NCT? I'd feel much happier if I saw an NCT fail sheet listing what needed doing.

Was just thinking the same thing. If I was serious about buying the car, I'd nearly pay the owner the €55 to test it

I don't agree. I think the w124 interior is as nice as anything from the 80s.

I preferred the W124 interior to that of the E34 :)

I had an e34 with a cloth interior, it was much nicer than the check monstrosity in that Merc earlier. CHECK ffs! :)

I know what you mean about the check interior, I was speaking in general terms. The check interior in the Merc was nicer than the blue sh1te in my E34 :)

I quite like the interior in my E34, even if it is cloth :) it has the arm rests...

Merc interior is much nicer to sit into in comfiness terms mind you. E34 seats hold you better from what I see. Still comfortable though

Diesel Octavia with NCT 02/13, Tax 05/12 and 171,000 miles. Should be good for 100k more if looked after.

95 1.5 Pulsar NCT 02/13 and Tax til 06/12, €700. Cheap on the road and no tax to pay for 5 months. Not the prettiest either, but cheap motoring - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2892539

Edit - A little over bangernomics territory but I'm liking this Clio for €1500.

Edit 2: link added above, not mine :)

    Link?

Hope it's not your own car...

Not cheap enough IMO for a 17 year old nissan

Stay away from it. Changed its owner and it's a bloody mess right now.
