2001 Lexus gs, 300 220k miles in great order €1200/€1500 IMO.

It looks like a very nice car

Guess it won't be on DD for too long.

    Hi There,

This is my first posting on this thread. What about this car. 3 months tax = €186; Tank of fuel = €100 - Thats the guts of €300 straight away. Surely too good to be true??

I'm always sceptical when I see photos of a car thats only just been washed. The wet surfaces can hide a multitude of problems and faded/damaged paintwork. You go to see it and it's nothing like the photos would have you believe.

Though having said that, for €600 beggars can't be too choosy so might be worth further investigation?

There's about €60 of petrol in the car and there are about 2.5 months tax left so not quite the guts of €300, but if everything works and the car has no major issues, it is quite a bargain indeed! Just passed the NCT which is a big advantage too (and easily verifiable)

The ad is 11 days old though, why is no one biting?

Saab Ed must be on his holidays :D

If if just passed the NCT (in May...going by the ad) ..then why is it only good up to January 2013???...shouldn't you get at least a full year?

You get a full year from when the test was due. The car was tested late (overdue), so it got less than a full year :)

If I hadn't brought a 9-3 5 weeks ago I'd be around there today looking at that 9000. If it's technically OK I'd take it, to hell with a few scratches, very classy cars in their day and they have aged very well IMO.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,737 ✭✭✭MidlandsM

all this chatter about a car being pictured in a DD ad with a full or 3/4 tank of fuel.......let me tell you one thing boardsies as a car dealer.........any car I'm marketing may or could possibly have a full tank of fuel pictured, but by the time I sell it, It'll have the RESERVE fuel light on!

Never bank on it coming with a full tank......and with the price of fuel that way it is, you'll not haggle it into any deal on a cheap car.....(not with me anyways) lol

Whats wrong with it? Or should I say, how many "boobs" will it take to get through the NCT?

Time for a bangernomics change. I posted about wanting a van. The girlfriend has heard my plan and promptly told me "NO CHANCE".

If she was ugly she'd be gone.

I've decided to settle for a commercial jeep now. Any ideas.

Also here is my Bangernomics offering. It's my car.

Looks like a UK car from the plate, insist on full history with UK reg or Cartell check.

Thanks for that. In fairness to him he told me that the car came from the UK about 3 years ago so he was up front on that score.

Says he has a full history from the UK side of things.

How could you tell just for me own info?

    Cheers

The fact that its high spec, lol.

Remember they're taxed as a 2.3, and also remember to do your own indepensant Uk check.

    Seems like a lovely car:

    http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3600574

I rang about and have even toyed with buying it until I knocked sense into myself that I don't need an Audi 80. If it is still for sale by Monday, I think I might go and look at it, so please someone... do me a favour.

Full service history, seems to be in good nick, timing belt done, 4 good tyres, and going for an NCT tomorrow (Friday), so potential 12 months of that.

It has more presence than the A4 that replaced it IMO.
