No but you didn't give any indication that the car was in some way connected with you. It would have been perfectly acceptable to say 'Here lads, someone in my family can't use the web so they've asked me to pop this online for them. What do you think?'.

    Honesty & transparency man.

Unreal amount of car for the money due to the Irish obsession with low road tax.

Seriously this is a big comfy saloon with leather and a brand new test for under €2k. The mind boggles...

Nice yoke, but it's an SE ecopower rather than the aero advertised.
If it has full history and that fresh nct it'd be def worth a go

    I'm just a sucker for those wheels...:o

It looks very well with the colour combo and with fsh and new NCT it really is an awful lot of car for very little money.

Back seats look a bit worn so I'd look for other child damage but other than that (and the fact that it's not an aero) it looks lovely.

Yeah! I'm generally not that bothered about looks when it comes to bangernomics cars, but those wheels really made the ad for my car stand out.

Just a wee update for anyone considering buying a bangernomics Saab 9-5: bought mine 9 months ago. The car has cost me (apart from fuel, insurance and tax) about €200 maintenance in total. Bit of oil, coolant and windscreen wash, €75 job from a good indy including parts and labour to replace a valve in the coolant system (Saab advises to change this part as a prevention after 6-8 years, mine failed after 11 years). NCT + retest + tracking (hit a speed bump too hard)

I'd love a big barge like a 9-5 or Accord or something...

My sisters looking for a car budget about 1200. Don't want to start one of those threads, thought it might be suited here.

Car looks clean and looked after. For sale a good while, worth €1000 or so i reckon?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,942 ✭✭✭Bigus

If you can get to see this car it would be a good buy ,

but getting to see it and if it's actually for sale is a different question

, she should be banned from adverts with that carry on.

Silly wagon prob won't take a whole less than asking, it's hardly a man methinks:D

He wants €2000 for an 11 year old SAAB 9-5. Nice colour combo, nice wheels, but apart from that it's fairly pricey IMO.

You can get an excellent 9-5 for around €800-1200 in Ireland, the wheels you can pick up second hand on donedeal or adverts if you are patient enough.

Friend of mine sold a 02 ghia version recently with a/c , alarm , rear electrics, the lot. Huge nct, small bit of tax and he just about got 2 grand for it in the end. A grand is at best the price if this car.

Patwicklow, It's one thing shamelessly promoting cars you have for sale, it's another thing shilling posing as a potential buyer.

Deserves time in the sin bin!

I doubt you'd get a mint 9-5 with full service history and a fresh NCT in what is the best wheels/colour/interior combination for €1000 somehow. It doesn't bother me what you guys think it's worth tbh, it's under the bangernomics budget and it seems to have everything going for it. Also bear in mind that the chances are you won't pay the asking price anyway. If you got it for €1800 for example. :)

I don't see FSH mentioned in the AD. If it had one, the car dealer would make a point of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,575 ✭✭✭166man

    Fair comment:)

On a car like the 9-5 turbo petrols which require pretty comprehensive regular servicing the FSH of the car coupled with a new NCT make it worth that extra few hundred over one on done deal that hasn't a full service history and only 6 months NCT.

Add in the lovely wheels, interior and colour and I think it could be a winner.

I think the ad has been edited, I'm 99% certain it said full service history. Without that it's pretty overpriced.

Anyone know of any Honda civics and Mitsubishi colts circa €700-900 that aren't on donedeal or gumtree?

'maintained to the highest standard' would suggest that it's got a full Saab history, anything less than that is just plain lying.
