As far as I know, if its not a taxi now it can't be re-registered.
Needs to be at least 2004 (or 03, not sure)

97 Carisma for €780 in Dublin, taxed for almost 4 months and NCTd to the day before Patrick's Day, might be manky under the seat covers though :pac:

Still it would be cheap transport for the winter!

If it wasn't for the tax I wouldn't consider it viable, bought a 99 one towards the end of March for €600. They're not far off the 90s Toyota yokes in terms of troublefree motoring in fairness to them.

I would rate them as highly as 90's Toyotas in terms of reliability. Excuse the pun the lacked charisma! That said if you landed it on your driveway for €500 , you could not go wrong

Aren't the gearboxes a bit iffy on them?

Always thought that was in the diesel Galant tbh but you might well be correct. The thing we got seems fine, less than 110k miles on that though so not really overly used.

A freshly serviced (claimed) 1.6 Focus saloon for €1300 in Kerry, 119k miles, taxed for nearly 3 months and NCT until April. Seems an honest add :)

Yes it seems honest enough I think I would push them towards the €1000 though.

    Another interesting one

Renault Megane Coupe, nice little car for one of the kids returning to college.
My only reservation is the DL reg!

What's the story with the DL plates? Donegal is obviously close to the border, but so are a few other counties, and don't hear much about those plates.

Ollie, I will pass on this one. Last time I got lambasted for expressing an opinion. ( I believe my thoughts upset a few people, for whahtever reason)
My advice is , Caveat Emptor ( Let Buyer beware!!!)

Why the DL phobia del?? Hold that.. Seen your response above. Tbh it is caveat emptor for every car sale, in EVERY county though.

Huge lash of miles and quite likely was a taxi at some stage, the add says it's driving perfect though so if it was straight and relatively issue free on inspection I'd be tempted for under €800 ish... 6 months test.... rust maybe rust bla bla bla :pac:

lol. Must use boards.ie search engine now..

Although, I do see a lot of DL reg's on donedeal, and it's not a large county by any means.

Indeed, potentially decent ish, you never know though with cars :)

Now I'm stretching the budget to the max with this one....

A 2002 530d asking €2750 but it includes tax until Feb 2013 which if you went about buying on the 1st Sep would cost you €771 so that puts this yoke just within budget imo as I wouldn't drive without tax :)

183k miles which if genuine isn't too bad, turbo done and 4 months warranty left with that, good or a bad thing depending on your views but a fresh turbo is a fresh turbo. Just NCTd too until June 2013.

Manual, no leather and some bits not to everyone's taste (the plates), some bits to less peoples taste too :pac: (the LEDs).

I think you have answered one of your questions. Yes there are a lot of DL's on Done Deal.

If the Megane which is for sale thro' a garage checks out ,sure ,I may buy it for one of the kids.

Also I may be older than you think, have been around a long time , lived in various places, and have come across a fair few dodgy cars in my lifetime

I guess this qualifies for bangernomics. It shouldn't be too hard to get the car for €2k even allowing for those cool plates!:cool:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3732010 Anyone interested in a C5?

Can't see you getting €750 off the asking price for the BMW that easily somehow.

Can't see the appeal of that 530d myself either.

I agree, though I am immediately wary of some more than others.

    Best Regards,
