It wasn't a very cool first car back then... and it's still not very cool.!
I think it has a certain retro cache to it for us kids of the 80's tbh.

Might be of interest to someone. Looks very well looked after. Nice bit of pre-celtic tiger nostalgia..!!

Very true. My father had a practically brand new one stolen from outside his front door in the early 80's. Not a bad thing considering it was bright orange. Would like to get my hands on the earlier Cead special edition...believe there is only 2 left.

    Two for less than €800.
Both look well minded and straight.
    Both with T/B recently done.
Good bit of test on both.

Ya wouldn't lose much on either I reckon.

    Agreed.
But for €800 with test & belt & pretty straight looking I figured it was worth a mention.

Seller has incorrectly quoted the mileage as kilometres. All other things being equal 206k miles is very high on one of these for my liking. But its less than €500 and has almost 8 months NCT.

More than likely due a timing belt I'd bet but if it were me I'd just drive it away until next July and hope to God it doesn't snap in the meantime. You'd never know it may even pass the NCT then but if not flog it for whateverit clears at in the market...

In the UK they were called vauxhall astras and the SRI's were very sought after at the time for car thieves. looked alright in white or black sri version

Yes actually. A certain crowd were fairly big into stealing cars for the crack. I remember seeing a field behind Balreask Manor (tuborg man will know) at the very bottom of the road, full of burned out cars, a fair few were Opels, a few Astras of that shape.

Look at any police dash clip from the 90s, a lot will contain chasing a stolen Astra

To be fair it's always an Astra with the exhaust hangin off the back from smacking over speedbumps...:D

Alloys on the Colt (and the state of them) would tell me that car was probably thrashed about the place and not particularly minded.

agreed - but that 1.3 engine will go for ever - i had a colt and before it a lancer - she took many miles with very little looking after.

It'd be the gearbox I'd be concerned about more so than the engine ;)

It dosen't have NCT anyway so probably too much of a pain to bother with.

How is it 1.7 on the logbook when Citroen never made a 1.7 Xantia in either petrol or diesel?!

As the advert says. "Sit in and drive away"

Coming from someone who's had 4 xantias in the family over the last 8 years. Run away. Looks abused.

And the last Citroen to be fitted with a 1,7 was the BX in the eighties. Early TD lump

    EDIT:

Ran the reg through MotorTax.ie for the tax rates. Falls in the 1700cc-1800cc range. My bets are that the engine was swapped from the smaller petrol 1.8l XU7 to the largr XUD11 2.1td.

I'd still run a mile from it

    Crappy pics.
Low miles and a load of test.
If it checks out it's a decent diesel jammer for someone. (except its petrol..apologies)
    Please ignore this effort...!!!

Unsurprised it didn't sell. Who in their right sticks that engine in, especially with that awful Lucas CAV pump???

If it is petrol to diesel, it'll never be NCT'd as is

    Oblig car

    NCT till May, 1050

Those belt / chain driven? Tempted by the condition (or is it just an extremely good valet?)
