How bad can it be????????? For parts alone thats a bargain.

I'd say scrap value is more then €150..there could be a spare engine in there for Confab :P

Belts cost a fair bit? Amongst other things. Just look out for one with an NCT and belts done for around 1000 and save yourself a headache.

    EDIT:

I agree that for 150, it could definitely be worth a shot if you got space for it. Sorry, I was a little quick off the bat to shoo it away. But the same old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is" would apply in my mind. And the 80euro it would cost to get to it and drive it back. :pac:

Yeah! The hatchbacks are a nicer car imo. Visually, at least!

But it looks like that one has a serious dent on the passanger side sill! Eep!

You'd need your wits about you but this could well be worth buying...

NCT just up but there seems to be a service history, the freshly sprayed tyres prompted a google search of the number, more than this car for sale too.

Still, fresh miles, recently belted, diesel with air con for less than a grand asking price. If it checked out on inspection it should be quite capable of passing a test no bother at all, rear trailing arm bushes would be the only less than obvious thing I'd be worried about, not a huge issue either if they needed doing. If that was in Cork I'd be having a look.

Never liked them but there's almost €500 worth of tax on that!

    Yeah, never thought of that!

Would you have to re-tax it straight away or could you wait until it's up?

Yup. i know of a few people driving around on it and nothing was ever said.

i drove an E320 for a bit, averaged 31mpg on a long run and by god it was a smooth, smooth car to drive.

i'd prefer an S class over a 7 series, but apparently the 7er is a much more reliable motor.

I still find it amazing that an 80k car can be bought for so little,i know they can be money pits but still.

I would certainly chance it until it's up!

Managed just shy of 30mpg in the 735 last weekend driving down to Galway and back with the cruise set at 80.

It's the tax - pure and simple!

I would be lucky to get €2.5k for mine these days, not really a whole lot of point in letting it go for that much, what could I realistically buy with that that would come anywhere near to it?

Clear indicators and M-Pars double the value dude! ;)

I dont think its the tax though. These cars are equally cheap in the UK where tax is cheap. Theres just no prestige in driving an old luxury car unless its a classic.

You need an angle grinder at those springs and tyre walls :P

i've been on about a 7er because there' more reliable, but i'd pick an S320 over it though.
