Anyone here ever tried playing bangernomics with Autotrader UK instead of Donedeal? It's so much more fun and interesting!

I know our tax system limits it somewhat and they have more choice but it's interesting to see what you can buy over there pound for pound within the bangernomics budget.

Might be a cool idea for a new thread.

I was thinking that, maybe set the budget 500 quid lower but mightn't be a bad idea?

Water pump wouldn't be overly cheap to do, part alone would be €120/€150 :)

Seller is as well off selling as is rather than "investing" the guts of a grand (4 tryes needed too) in a car in the hope to recoup it in the sale.

I'd be wary buying a car with a coolant system issue personally.

water pump started to go in my primera, i fecked a bottle of rad repair into the rad, 3,000 miles later it is still ok.

These aren't really bangeromics. All need work done, some more than others.

    Nicely minded Corolla.
Low miles, bit of test and TB done a while back.

dull as dishwater...but keep on top of the oil changes and it'll go forever

....on another note all those stickers up the A pillar have to be borderline dangerous as far as visibility is concerned!

00 Accent, 3 door, NCT for almost a year, asking €1295, haggle off a few quid and it'd be ok me thinks...

Wolfrace Katanas......the work of the Devil :P

both are fine examples of bangeromics but I found they always came across as quite cheap looking.

......... I found they always came across as quite cheap looking.

    Indeed.

They were a cheaper alternative to a Cordoba/Ibiza or the likes of a Bravo/Brava back in the day :)

    Ultra reliable though.

I don't know if it is or not, I should have worded it better. Must edit for clarification! :)

As for the 406 it could be a cheap runabout for someone out there... It's a D9 too, I must be going mad  wheels on it are hard enough to get too!

Ahh ok I thought that you might have known the car or something 'tis clear in your edit :).
Those Mondeos represent very good value imo. They are still quite a modern, clean looking design. Certainly no one would be embarrassed to be seen in it (unless it has blue flashing lights) unlike the Hyundai accident above.

When I was going daysel I narrowed my list to either a 406 or mk3 Mondeo. I picked the 406 as it was miserably cheap compared to the Mondeo (plus could be felted easier :pac:) and I prefer the mechanical setup tbh...

Well for a duuurty felter :pac: such as yourself the 406 is the obvious choice. I would say that a Mondeo would be handy for making people pull in out of your way on the motorway though:p

Not everyone buying to a small budget wants to tax or can afford to tax a 1.8 or a 2.0 ;)

Oh absolutely I understand that, but what I'm trying to say is that you would generally think that someone driving one of those Mondeos is better off than someone driving an accent even if they cost the same to buy. Not to mention how much safer and more refined the Mondeo is.
Seeing as a Passat or an A4 of the same vintage would be over twice as much the Mondeo seams like a no brainer to me.
