I like that Alfa, if only it were RWD.

Mileage on that BMW can hardly be true?

Think the 0 at the end is a fluff. 200k is acceptable mileage imo :)

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Alfa Romeos haven't been RWD for about 3 decades. They've been telling us for about 2 decades though that they will be RWD again!

    Let's hope and dream :)

That beemer looks a right dog, after market steering wheel, headlights, floor mats and looks as if it possibly came with cloth seats originally.. And a boom boom box in the boot!

2x €1000, high mileage, diesel, no tax or test BMW's. whatever about the 3 series, the 5'er has potential i think.

No tax and no test means they don't really fit into bangernomics at all ;)

    Banger - yes.

    Nomics - no.

ah its all relative. i think if you got a little off the asking price of the 5 series it'd be a good buy regardless.

i admit the 3 series is a bit clapped out looking but its way below the general asking price for one of those, as i say, its all relative.

The 5 looks clean but if hes spent so much on it, why not 50 quid more for the test? He could double his asking then.

Having a test wouldn't nearly double that asking. Already 1100 for a 15 year old tractor.

Toyotafanboi I am normally a fan of the bangers you post but in this case I would have to agree with Top Dog.

No disrespect intended but I think the 3 seires in particular is overpriced junk for what it is. And I do think it somewhat presumptuous to assume you can get a car with an asking price of €1,350 for €1k. No doubt you'd get a few quid off but if you get that much off your a hell of a lot better at bargaining than me and I'm usually a pretty tough cookie:)

This thread is gone a tad looney lately, I'm all for buying yokes with no NCT as imo an NCT is practically worthless but yokes in here should have a test :)

Doesn't look too bad, €1950 asking, 149k miles but that's not really too bad for one imo...

Great find. Cracking car to drive (probably better than 99.9% of cars posted in here) for peanuts money. Tax is ouch, but hey, you only live once :D

Nice colour too. Not many around in that colour. If it had its cooling system sorted at least once in its life it's a bargain. Even if not, it's not that expensive to sort, and could be a DIY for anyone with even a bit of a DIY head on them.

Those mazda's are pretty much the definition of bangernomics motors. Class

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭johndaman66

JohnBoy26 thats more like it. Your helping get this thread back on the track again. Both very good cars but it has being said previously in the thread that the 1.5 is an uneconomical engine for what it is. The 1.3 represents particularly good value for your money.

Yeah many will moan that they are boring, unexciting, all plasticky blah blah blah etc etc etc but for reliable bread and butter motoring (what the thread should be about in my opinion) the Mazda 323's take some beating. There are plenty of threads on more exotic machines elsewhere on the forum........

The financial difference in running a 323 and something much nicer is often minimal so I wouldn't be discounting the "more exotic" stuff so quickly ;)

Agreed, if you buy well and are smart about it. But the likes of what seems to be a clapped out BMW 320 diesel with 200k miles and no tax or nct asking €1,350 posted a page or two back?... just to provide an example.

The point I was moreso making was that some people on the thread (far from everybody in fairness) would often seem to dis the likes of the Mazda 323 as being cheap tat and look down on it, while ignoring the whole ethos of the thread in the first place.

Ah now wouldn't go quite that far. As I previously mentioned I am generally a fan of the cars he posts. But I don't think them couple were worthy of making the thread:)

    Toyota celica
1000E, do a bit of haggling and take it for 900E.
    N.C.T til 31/03/2014 :)
No mention of tax, it does look clean in fairness.

If that has a big exhaust hanging off the back of it, then I saw it a few days ago and it did indeed look a very clean example.

Just goes to show that those hiding their number plate aren't really with it in the first place....
