Lexus used genuine leather in most cases though. The sc430 has a tag hanging from the seat to tell you they're real.

No leather in a barge just isn't right.

i Spent an half an hour Gliptones a set of seats in Merc, giving them a few coats. When i went to do the back seats i spotted a tag hanging off them saying they were pleather, basically.

    As in they were MBTex?

Can't you usually tell if a Merc has leather by whether the door cards have pleats on them?

Wouldn't be so sure, this was about 4 years ago, i just remember the tag was hanging off the top right shoulder of the back of the drivers seats. Was in an E280 cdi iirc.

    hey folks.

Have been keeping an eye on this thread for a very long time.

Am finally in the market for a bangernomics. Am thinking an old alfa 156 or saab 9-5. Any thoughts on either ?? Ideally 2 litre, leather etc (not looking for people to throw up links - i'm searching myself - just thoughts on those cars??? ). Turbos in Saabs just another thing to go wrong and best avoided ???

Over half of this car value is in tax alone. It may be a good buy to someone ;):

Over 2k for a 10 year old Corolla? I'm sure someone will pay it, but a bargain it ain't compared to all the other cars in here. You can do so much better for your 2k!

NCT up in 10 days so shouldn't really be in here but I reckon it could well be worth a peak, if it was in Cork I'd go for a look and take her home if she appeared someway shipshape ...........

........ asking €550, it's been for sale a few weeks at this stage.

Very cheap alright, but these cars are tinsh1tboxes. Extremely unsafe. And not really all that sporty.

Prelude in Cork for you, RJ....

... very decent handling and 200bhp, admittedly tin canish, to my shame I'm not overly bothered about the safety aspect.

Cheers Esel. Had one just like that, auto too she was, non vtec too me thinks that one is.

Not quite 200bhp and very un-Irish market 2.2l engine ;)

I'll grant you the semi-ok handling. FWD sardine can sh1tbox though :D

I thought you owned an MR2? How can you value a sh1tty Honda piece of crap when you owned one of those?

I think it may be sentimentality thats gotten to him. Fondness of their simplicity perhaps :)

..... twas a 1995 3SGE engined celica I had. I haven't had an MR2 yet, I like preludes, the tax wouldn't bother me too much, that particular one caught my eye mainly on price tbh but I was performing one of my regular Lude searches at the time :pac: I completely understand your tin can point, not something that bothers me with a car that cheap. Honda H22 engines are incredibly decent in fairness to them.

A month of tax, a few months of NCT.

Seems a nice motor for the money. You'd certainly let the rip on the drivers seat go if that was the only major problem with it. Pity the photos weren't a wee bit better though.

He seems to be out a month on his tax and NCT but I'm just being pedantic now:p

    Staying with Mazda

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3027084

I know these small saloons don't appeal to everyone but if your after a cheap run around you could do much worse....

The "NEED GONE TODAY" line is annoying to say the least though

i'd buy a car with a failed NCT with the report showing what needed doing before I'd buy one with an expired NCT... Honestly, you can do the NCT three months early. No excuse. Half the adds on donedeal 'no nct but will fly through'... Avoid !

Opps my bad, I actually thought there was more NCT on her when I was posting the link....must not have being fully zoned in.

You are spot on with your comments. "No NCT but will fly through" actually is the comment that annoys me most on donedeal ads. Its actually worse than listing "evo, twin-cam, tdi, altezza, sir, vtec" etc etc at the bottom of an ad for the likes of a 1.0 litre micra.

What qualifies these people to say their car will fly though the NCT. In fairness if you took your car along to a garage for a pre nct they won't guarntee you it will pass once prepared for it...
