Thanks for your replies! A fair point, I guess I just liked the way a Polo feels compared to a Fiesta. Thuogh the joke is on me as I'm now on a '97 Pug 106 and its just too small! I'm sure the spacing between the pedals isn't legal anymore!

A friend is going away for a year so I'll be getting her corolla hopefully. That or full time employment arrives and I can get something a little nicer

Your most welcome barura. Even though I don't share your preference for the Polo I do acknowledge your choice and different strokes for different folks;)

I actually drove a Citroen AX a couple of times many many moons ago which is essentially the same car as the Pug 106. The pedals are pretty offset and close together alright due to the intrusion from the wheel arch...far from ideal if like me you happen to have big somewhat clumsy feet.

Best wishes with the Corolla when you get motoring in it. On the face of it should be a nice step up from the Peugeot.

€750 with NCT and reasonably low mileage, pity about the tax.

200miles for 20euro?? Thats like... 70mpg? something is telling me thats a little much.

BMW 316, 850 but with a fair amount of NCT til november and looks very clean. My brother has one of these, has done the last 30k without a service, so that says something for the engine at least!

Regardless! It looks very clean and if its all good service history wise, it would be something if you got it for 600, I'm sure.

Hmmmmmm... I am not convinced, but judge for yourselves.!

Also, what is the story with this "ideal for export" business?

I don't understand the selling point of this statement??

    Anyway, here it is..

This looks like a clean Merc.

9 months tax worth about €400 alone. Knock a bit off the asking and it could be a nice buy. (Providing it doesn't have spaceship miles)

Seller knows that Toyotas are being exported, and thinks that lump of junk with a chocolate gearbox would be as sought after.
Hiaces and older (pre common rail) model toyota corolla and landcruisers are being exported every day.

Vf that Merc was any newer that 97 i'd be on it. So much tax :O

    Too old though.

    Ageist...:D

If I was sin the market myself I'd be enquiring also.!

Needless to say, when I am actually looking again, nothing like this will pop up.

Wouldn't call myself ageist, but there's no mention of mileage and he obviously has the price of the tax added into the price of the car.

Plus they're about 900 quid for the year so 9 months is more than 400!

Are they the same engine that was used for years or did it change much as time went on?

    Forgot it was a 2.2. I was basing my €400 on a 2.0l.

I'm not sure what the story is regarding the engine, or whither it changed much.
I did have a 94 C200 in a 2.0l diesel 5 or 6 years back. Rare enough in this country I believe, and discontinued in Ireland after '94 if I am correct?
Reliable as you would expect but so so slow...
