Get a few hundred off and you're laughing.
    Re the S60 T5:
Lots of car alright. Especially when you look at the other cars available for €2k. However, its a 12 year old 2.3 ltr turbo, Volvo, petrol.
Its also got ~ 130k miles on the clock, which could be time for runnning repairs - expensive ones like Turbo or expensive Volvo suspension parts. Who knows.
I'm not saying that the car is bad value, I am saying that the buyer should be aware that the initial outlay of €2k might just be the start, to get it reliable for another few years.
    Lovely motor all the same.

That is exactly my idea of bangernomics. Beat him down on price a a good bit and away.

If you don't want to pay the money buy one of the 3 other gtv 2.0 on donedeal.

Though id be going through it with a fine tooth comb.

That to me looks like a BMW 728i, with chavvy wheels, most likely no tax and 150k miles..

Definitely worth the extra €1k for the Alfa imo of course..:D

    Read the description ;)

Four days tax and surely you'd get away without it for the month.

Plus, just because the pictures aren't as nice as the Alfa's doesn't make it any worse of a car. Those wheels are replica's, M6's. Not Katana's!

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,247 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

I think a big engined Alfa is always going to have something of a "rarity" premium over a similar range beamer in this country. BMW's have become so ubiquitous that to the average Joe, the Alfa is going to be more "special", even if the BMW is technically a better car. Given a straight up choice between the two posted above, it'd be the Alfa for me.

    Still chav under that car!

putting those M6 wheels on any other BMW should be outlawed... who the feck things it looks good?!

"Rare" is hardly a desirable condition for a consumer product like a car. It just means that not many people wanted to buy one when it was new

It could have been too expensive for most people when it was new, and that's not an issue now. It doesn't mean it was less desirable.

A car being rare is certainly a plus point for me anyway. Also it's probably rare because many people could afford the road tax and petrol in one let alone the cost to buy one.

There's few V6 Alfa's in Ireland because of petrol prices and road tax, not because people don't want them.:)

Still at the end of the tax the tax is up in 4 days. And it's not a 740i either..;)

I think those wheels look wrong too, smaller wheels would look better and be more comfortable.

As a lover of the E38 those wheels look absolutely pox on that car!:eek::eek:

    Ok ladys and gentle folks,

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3182465

€250 for alloys, you'd definitely get 200 for the ones that are on it and i'm sure you'd know more than 200 of the price of the car. Win win ;)

    Valid point LM.

Still though I found this what looks to be a minter for around the same money and I'd still have the V6 Alfa!

This is the thread to discuss V6 Alfas for sale.

Look, I have 2 Alfas myself, including a V6, but in general, these cars do not belong in a bangernomics thread, especially not the V6s. A cheap taxed, tested and serviced TS or JTD, then fair enough.

well there are 2 types of bangornomics. one of them are cheap motoring with low tax, long nct and very low price tag, and then there are luxobarge/fun stuff like high spec cars, which costed a fortune and a half brand new, but now can be gotten for peanuts. I would not go for alfa myself as i find it a bit too high priced to be in luxo/fun category, but i dont see why such alfas would not be in bangornomics.
