Jeez, they have ruined that lovely Saab with their stupid mods. Its Sacrilege to have a car like that modded, save that for your saxos etc, if you must:(

Painted wheels and grill? looks ok for 650 euros..?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,382 ✭✭✭jimmyw

I'd buy it OK, but I would rip them extras off anyway, cant have them on.I would be totally embarassed:o,others wouldnt but thats their own business. They started off charging 1250 which is too high, but are now threatening to bring it to the scrappy:rolleyes:.

My old one that I had to sell last year is back on DD now, and like if she was a former girlfriend, she is looking really gorgeous and sorry I sold her (broke up LOL) but I had to.I could show a link but maybe I might get in trouble.

Never did get to that Alfa - it's gone now anyway - I'll go and have a nose at this instead. Shame about the mods, but they're all reversible.

That alfa 156 in meath was for sale when i bought my gtv about jan, seen it parked in navan and looked ok, no leather and paint isn't perfect but might be worth a punt.

I never copped that, it looks like Ferndale or one of the Balreask estates...

Might have a gawp for it someday :pac:

I had one - needed a good rev but competent enough. But with running costs pretty much the same as the 1.8 and 2.0 versions I'd be inclined to go for one with a bigger engine.

The 1.8 version was essentially a low entry repmobile. The slightly larger 2 litre was usually purchased with a higher spec.

Steel wheels.... On a Merc? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :pac:

Yes, believe it or not the base or classic model came with standard steel wheels with plastic wheel covers. Alloys were a very expensive option!

Anyone remember my friends old Saab 95 estate? The fast one.

That's his older Saab, and it's faster. That car is an absolute animal! i've just texted him there about it.

owned by a friend of mine, would make a decent buy at that price maybe?

With no detail of what it failed the NCT on, it's hard to say if it's worth having at any price tbh.

Ive a big hard on for big 3.5+litre cars but that 740i, even with the full service history barr the last one, just isn't worth 1000. Maybe with an NCT though.

You should just rename this thread "the cheap alfa/saab/volvo thread"

Used to be fun to read but i'm getting bored of looking at 156s all day

That's because cheap Alfa's, Saabs and Volvo's do represent what bangernomics actually is. It's better than posting cheap Korean/Japanese sh1tboxes everyday.

If you don't like it don't read it or do something to change it, like post your own bangers. :)

Oh and SaabEd, that is a quality find. Sure the tax is worth the asking assuming it's not PSV tax.

............ This car failed NCT on a few minor bits nothing major this has been reflected in the price for the new owner. I use this car as my daily driver and it has never let me down.

Will swap for a Toyota Mr2

I have described this car honestly

.... pity he didn't describe what the minor bits are :)
