Senna - even my fiancée, who knows nothing about F1 and had never heard of him before found it compulsive viewing. How it's not on the Oscar shortlist will forever be one of life's great mysteries.

Not only the best documentary of the year, Senna was one of the most riveting films of the year. What made it truly spectacular was that it was so accessible to people (like myself) who aren't even big fans of F1.

The Art of Flight - One of the most visually stunning films ever released and with a fantastic soundtrack to boot.

Machete Maidens Unleashed - An informative and fun doc about low budget genre film making in a country where life is cheap.

Flying Monsters With David Attenborough - wonderfully crafted and very accessible despite being a very niche topic.

David Attenborough's Flying Monsters would be my choice.
